I finally got on GT at home at watched the clip; I honestly don't see you putting the rifle down that hard. A little abruptly, maybe, but not hard.

And for the record, I'm still proud of you!

No, like I said the next day, I was super wound up and still freaked out when I said that. I'm glad that rail stopped me from pushing it off the table, though.

And thank you.

Are we going to have to revisit this issue? You know I love you, but will definitely be willing to revisit if it's necessary!

You can. Just write whatever comes to mind. Write down what you've been thinking for the last 5 1/2 years. Use the guidelines I gave you. This is for you. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about it.

I'm praying for you.

When you consider the extensive collection that you have and all of the teaching/training that you have done and how much you used to enjoy firearms, somewhere inside of you remains those memories. You have likely taught more people to shoot and especially new females than anyone in this thread.

It's there and you are on your way to re-discovering it.
Kinda like a little flower bud, a strong root, a little nurturing and opening up one petal at a time until you have a beautiful bloom.

It's happening and it's happening because you haven't given up.

You are very welcome!
I'm so excited for you! Keep going with the baby steps. If you really, truly never want to shoot again, that's perfectly fine and dandy, but if you think you do want to keep trying, just keep going a little bit at a time. Now you know that you can do it..even though it was tough and obviously freaked you out...IF you want to keep shooting, it will get easier for you!

You might not think you're a super hero, but you ARE super awesome!!

I may take you up on that soon, thank you.

4 1/2 years. Please don't make it any longer than it has to be! And if I wrote the things I've really been thinking at times i'd scorch the paper. I was just thinking today that I'd like to wring that medics neck for not leaving me alone. And that's cleaner than a lot of things that go through my head.

Thank you for the prayers.

I remember when I used to shoot, and how I enjoyed it. While I miss enjoying it, I don't miss the actual shooting now. I do miss the feeling of being able to go out and enjoy myself that's gone now.

No, I don't want to shoot anymore at all. But at the time I need to be able to shoot if a vicious dog needs ventilating, or something like that. I need to get to where I'm not too scared of the gun to use one if that's what I need to do. I also need to get past not daring to keep a loaded one around me for fear of having a GT posse come down here and revive me just to shoot me again.

Thank you, you're pretty awesome too.

Sorry, I miscounted my fingers.

Scorch the paper, then. Use that language. Write down that stuff. Tell that to your former self. She got you in this mess. Tell her off. Tell her how you don't want to shoot anymore. When you get thoughts like about the medic, write it to someone; Greg, or former XXXXXXX. Write it to the medic, whatever. This is all stuff you can write.

You don't have to write the letters all at once. It can be a little at a time. In fact, that's probably better because you'll have more thoughts over time. Just try to get all of the points I outlined included somewhere in the process.

Just write.

Do I have to cut one of them off so you'll get it right?

You sure you want me to say that stuff to my old self? Of course if I could go back in time I'd have something to say to her before she ever made a phone call.

I'm sure what my old self would say to me isn't much nicer. I could get 'earthy' back then, too.

I'm having another surgery in the morning, hopefully my last cancer related. Hopefully the last surgery on my chest for any reason! I don't think redoing any of the repairs would help at this late date, and the VA doc said the same thing. Hope this one goes well, I'm sure it will.
