They made it work, I'm sitting with him now. He knows I'm here, he cried when I walked into the room. So did I.

The trip was hard and painful, in spite of Delta doing what they could to make it easier. The had someone take me from TSA to my gate in Atlanta so I wouldn't have to walk that far. My chest is screaming, as expected, but it's well worth it. My chest can just STFU, I'll never regret doing this. Jeff's sister is here too, she's so glad I could make it. She said she could tell he was all excited when she told him I was in the air.

LW you have proven once again that you are an adult.
Be kind to yourself when you can and take peace from knowing that you are doing the right thing.

You likely won't ever regret this regardless of how much it may hurt.

Warm thoughts and prayers are with you, Jeff and his family. I remember how kind his sister was on the phone when I called him some time ago. Tell her that she is in our prayers. It's fortunate that you are there for her as well.

Sawgrass is so right. You will never regret seeing him again. It will give him so much peace just knowing you are there. I'm sorry you are in additional pain. You really went outside of your comfort zone to be with him and it just cements in my mind what a truly strong, gracious person you are. Hugs to you, Jeff, his sister and his family.

I can't be too strong, I had a breathing attack again today. It's mostly over now, but damn it hurts.

I've got bigger news though, Jeff has decided he wants to try to live. The folks here at hospice are arranging an ambulance to come to take him to the hospital now, where they'll start with with a swallowing evaluation and take it from there. He still can come back here it that goes badly, but he wants to try. Let's amp up the prayers.

Also, do you realize this is the 2nd time you have had a hand in saving his life? I think you have proved the reason you survived being shot...you DEFINITELY have a purpose!

I know you posted somewhere..maybe the other thread?...that you 2 dated. I honestly had no idea that you had, but I think that was in 2009 when I had my own health problems. It's also possible that I was dreaming about the 2 of you, I've had a lot of dreams this week.

This whole time..all through this thread of yours...I've had my own secret dreams that you 2 would get married.

Whether or not you get married, he has to get better because you both need each other. He HAS to.

You most certainly CAN share the prayer request, the more the better.

I don't think I'm the reason he changed his mind at all, it's because he was improving on his own and has some hope of recovery that he didn't at first. He can swallow now, and said his first word since the stroke today. I really think he'd have changed his mind even if I hadn't come. At best, I added incentive, but not reason.

We 'dated' online for a while, I was in Iraq at the time, but it didn't work out. We're better off as friends. As for getting married or trying that again, we value each other's friendship way to much to mess it up by trying that again!

Jeff's been moved to Charleston General today, they'll do a swallowing eval to decide if he needs a feeding tube or he can eat enough on his own. Most likely he'll be there a few days, then to a nursing home for rehab for a while. He's not out of the woods yet, but I'm hopeful.

You are the definition of a good friend. For someone going through the pain you are to be there for Skidoo is just awesome. Words are one thing, actual deeds are another. For so long you've been a voice of hope and the voice of reason when needed. I'm proud to have known you and called you friend.
