Bob your fishing trip sounds wonderful.

G26G congrats to your hubby. Good luck with the house.
I told Lone that I would be willing to take a road trip down to where her house is and get a pics of it and e-mail it to her. I was relieved to hear she had gotten ahold of someone who saw the house and is ok.

I can only imagine the agony she was feeling half a world away and not knowing if her house was spared.

Lord have mercy last night was the night from HELL in all these southern states. Ringgold Georgia near the TN/GA border is a bomb zone. Homes are just gone, firemen would go the the house and see a bare foundation. The home was just gone.....just vanished.

There are still missing people in Ringgold and Tuscaloosa, AL. The more I see those twisters there in Al I just get tears in my eyes.

That's sweet of you Peachie. The devastation is heartbreaking.

Apparently she can't get on at work either.

Wow. I'm glad to hear that your house and SR are okay. I didn't think about that.

Since I'll be going through the VA for my care once I get back here I don't know if pain management specialist is an option. That's the main thing I'll need though, daily pain meds. I'll still need physical therapy and probably a shrink too, but my shrink here is trying to get me to where I don't need that near as much.

Do you have to go to a VA hospital, or can you see private doctors with Tricare? Seems awfully inconvenient.

Me? Tough and strong? OK, but I just don't see it. I think I'm a wimp with low pain tolerance. But I know people that tell me they'd be crying. But then, I do that a lot.

Anybody that's been through what you have is tough and strong. Not necessarily physical strength, because I know you don't have that right now, but strong character.

Something Profound.
Well, I asked for it, didn't I?

Did you find out anything about the writing exercises?

This weather is crazy. An F5 tornado hit Jerrell, TX in May 1997. My kids went down there on a youth group service project to help clean up. They described the bare foundations like that. My heart goes out to the people of your area.

She did offer me that and it was much appreciated. Luckily I didn't end up having to take her up on it. It wasn't a good feeling not knowing, and not even being able to make contact with anyone I know from the area. It actually made me glad me EX stole my cats a couple years ago, because I'd have really been freaking if they'd been in my house and I not know if it had been hit.

I saw some pics and some of CNN's coverage at the DFAC and damn. Just damn, it's terrible. There's a thread running on here by Resqu2 talking about actually getting caught in one of the twisters, an F3. Wow, just glad he's here still. Please say a prayer for all of those affected and the rescuers trying to get to people still trapped. I just hope it's over now.

You and me both. I just met with my roofer at our old house. He said they already had 300 contracts and expected abot 1200 when all said and done. My neighbor here said he had broken skylights so I may have roof damage after all. I have a hail resistant roof, so we'll see. I'm just thankful I have a house at this point.

I finally got word this afternoon that my Aunt and cousin who live in Ringgold are ok. I was told nine people were killed where my cousin works but he is ok.

That's some good news there. Apparently no one I know was seriously hurt or killed either, although a few of them have home and car damage.

It's true you can replace 'stuff', but it would have been damn hard to go back to my house and everything I own gone.

Well, I guess that's a change from me telling a certain demon to **** off. God knows I've done that so many times. Still do. No, my shrink didn't say anything else about the writing exercises. A part of me is hoping he'll forget about them, but I doubt it. Besides, I don't think you're going to forget.

I'm glad you think so. My chest feels like hell tonight. It'll settle down, then I'll get a sharp bolt of pain that seems to come from nowhere. I told the medic earlier if he gave me anything watered down I was going to stick the needle in HIS ass!

Too slowly for my tastes, but can you blame me? I do feel like I'm finally making enough progress to notice. You folks could see progress long before I could. Guess that's because all I can see is that mountain in front of me. I just hope I don't slip back down it like I have so many times before. I'm not giving up, though, and I'm glad you stopped by.

What do you think? Hopefully that pain will not be as bad since you seem to be able to tell the difference between the genuine pain and the mind created pain. With that ability and a strong mind you may be able to push it aside much sooner. Until then we will be here.

Yes he did ask for it. Did you expect him not to make it his sig line?

No we are not going to forget about your writing assignment unless your shrink tells you not to do it at all. Otherwise I will keep after you and I expect BobInTX will too.

You keep on telling that demon to **** off along with his buddies.

P.S. to Wolfe: I need a new sig line. Could you say something profound?
I have no idea why she even has to ask. Wolfe you know we are here for you.

BobInTX that is fairly common after long term narcotic use. This is part of why a patient's progress has to be closely monitored. Left to their own devices many people would never be able to get off the narcotics because they would never think their pain had subsided. The fact that Wolfe's doctor think her pain will lessen even with lowered dosages is promising. She will have to go through some time feeling severe pain until her mind and body adapt. Did you expect her to say that? I would have because I know her.

Bob said he's got plenty of sticks and I want to see his head on a stick again.

I have no idea why she even has to ask. Wolfe you know we are here for you.
Thank you. OK, I'm squeezing the nearest hand tonight, the damn rain is making my chest scream.

I don't know that I can always tell the difference. I went in to get some extra meds because the foul weather rolling through made my chest scream. After I tool something I told the medic to take back the damn placebos and give me real meds. He told me they were real, full strength meds. Damn, they just weren't doing the job....

I was afraid of that......... But I didn't see my shrink today.

The windstorm from a couple of weeks ago blew down one of the trees on the riverbank so I've got a nice big stick to add to Bob's collection and you get your choice of demon heads with which to adorn it. Batter up!

Sounds like you need a new avatar.

Actually tonight I think you need several of those branches to make sticks out if. Start wuth the usual suspects and make sure you get Chest Pain, Breathing Problems, and thier cohorts too. Maybe even get my physical terrorist while you're at it, he had me crying today.

I don't even feel like talking about what my shrink did today, except to say I still think he's a bastard. Maybe I'll think differently tomorrow, but right now it's hard to think straight over my screaming chest.

I heard the good news, I'm smiling right now. If not for that bastard I wouldn't have been in the sandbox to get shot in the first place, so he gets some of the blame. I hope the 72 Virginians are having fun.

I'll talk about my shrink and terrorist later, and have fun with those demons and your bat.

Speaking of saving stuff, I still had the last couple pages of this thread open from just before the crash, and was able to copy the posts into a text file. I've recreated them below. The ones in dark red at the bottom were the last post I saw, from Bob.

Wolfe, thank you and all our service personnel so much again for your service and dedication. You all stepped up after 9/11 and have made us all so proud and grateful, with great personal sacrifice to yourself.

AND YOU GOTTA LOVE THOSE NAVY SEALS!!
Amen about them SEALS!

You don't know how much I'd love to see his head on a stick, planted right at Ground Zero. (the one in NY, not on my chest, thank you very much). Oh well, he's fish food instead. And one less demon on the face of the earth.

I waited 5 years after 9/11 to go back into the military. All that time I supported out military as best I could, and talked the talk I guess. But then one day it was bugging me that I felt like I wasn't really doing anything, in spite of having lost a cousin in the north tower. I was thinking about that while I was walking through a mall and happened up on a recruiter who had a table set up. I walked over to her and talked to her a little, then said I was probably too old. She asked my age, how much time I had in from before, and what my ASVAB score had been when I went in years ago. I told her all that and she said she could get the age waivered. I went to Ft. Huachuca a few months later and deployed a year and a half after that. Guess you folks know the rest.

Yes, it is. He's been pretty hard on me again and I can feel it big time right now. He claims I'm making progress, but I think he guages that by how loud I scream or how much I cry when he torments me. By that guage I must be making a lot of progress.

So you have at my terrorists while the Virginians go after bin Laden.

Yep, you're on the right track here. Of course we could throw in a couple of well endowed gay virgins into the party for him, too.

I only met him once. He was my cousin by marriage. It hurts me to think of his family, who already have lost too many before their time, and then lost another in that way. The only consolation is that he almost certainly never even saw it coming. He was near the top floor of the north tower. I hope they all got some closure from this.

Actually youíd be surprised how subdued it is over here. I think part of the reason is that over here weíre immersed in the war in Iraq and this wonít change much, so itís harder to step back and look at the big picture. The other reason I think is the concern that some of the locals might decide to retaliate by staging even more attacks on our convoys and the base. Thereís already been a lot of that lately, we really donít want any more.

Donít take that to mean Iím not glad heís dead for even a second, because I definitely am!

True, from all Iíve heard Ďvery nearlyí was an understatement. Considering that I started 2009 flat on my back and heavily sedated in a hospital I damn sure donít want to go back there. Or even back to mid 2009 when drug allergies royally screwed up my mind. I canít believe Iíve been almost 2 years just getting over that part of it. And youíre welcome, you and everyone.

Your guts. What's going on with you and your shrink?
The first thought that went through my mind when I read ďSpill your gutsĒ was the fact that pretty much everyone here has some kind of knife on their belt. Randalls, Kabars, Gerbers, you name it, spilling guts can easily be arranged over here.

I had to scroll back and look at what youíre referring to here, with all thatís happened since I posted that. My shrink talked and asked quite a bit about any thoughts I might have about bin Ladenís death, but Iím just glad of it and hope we get his minions too. Before that I was ill with him because I went in there with my head not feeling to bad about what happened and wondering if I was finally getting it all sorted out inside. He started grilling me, asking me questions and such, like pulling the scab off the wound yet again. I asked if he was ever going to let it heal and his answer was ďOnly once it heals from the insideĒ. Bastard!

Don't be surprised if I ask you something new. You never know what I may think of.

I would appreciate your prayers on Thursday. I'm having the LASIK on my right eye touched up. It's just a little off. I have to go back to DFW to get it done. This is our fourth trip there in a month. Two previous were for eye dr appts and this past weekend was for fishing. But did I mention that my grandbabies live there?

Has anyone else had trouble getting into Glock Talk the last couple of days?
I thought that I was kicked out or something, but it worked tonight. Hi Wolfe, glad to see you writing. Stay safe!!
