Chris Tomlin, Mercy Me, and a few other groups were out at the Parks last weekend. I didn't know about it until it was too late to make plans to go.
I wish I could have been there!

We did, too!
Tears rolling down the cheeks!
My daddy loved the Bill Gaither Trio...we went to see them in Orlando when I was a teenager!
I grew up on good ol' Gospel Music! Daddy put it on the stereo every Sunday morning while we had breakfast and got ready for Sunday School and Church!

On our cruise to Alaska last month, while in Juneau they were commenting on the Holland ship that had been rented out by one group. When we were walking back to our boat, we saw the Holland ship with a large banner reading Gaither Homecoming reunion. We asked if we could change ships.

I would have, too!
We sang that one at camp! When I feel scared, I sing the chorus of that song...it calms me!

George Beverly Shea lives near my mom. I met his daughter-in-law at a church dinner while we were there this summer. She was so sweet. She said that he was in Canada, but when we come back she'll bring him over to meet us. Mom has an antique organ, you probably don't remember, that she and Daddy rebuilt in the 60's. She wants George to play it!

When I was a teenager, I used to listen to the Alleluhia record every night. It was the first sort of homecoming by the Gaither trio there was. It was quite annointed. You can only get it on cassette now. It was never put to CD because it was of low quality but nothing has matched it ever since. I digitized it and play it through my ipod. We shed tears every time.
There will never be another one, though they tried to reproduce it. Doug Oldham did several tracks.

Does your mom play it? Can you? Music can be quite the witness.

I think it was on the cassettes I sent you a long time ago.
I'd LOVE to have a recording of that.
Mom and I were talking about that song the other night on the phone. It is probably one of my first favorite praise songs....from my teenage years, too.
I told her, I'd love to walk into a worship service and hear that song again!
I KNOW it'd bring many tears to my eyes, too! It was VERY annointed!

Mom plays some.
I don't know if you remember, but I use to play fairly well. My sister, Cheryl, and I use to play for the guests in the hotel. She'd play the Electric Organ, and I'd play the piano together.
I had the Antique Organ in my home for several years, but then traded my parents for the piano. I studied piano for about 10 years, the last six at Rollins College in Winter Park.
I could KICK myself an hundred times over for "thinking" I had too many other important things to do in high school and convinced Daddy to let me stop my lessons!
We did a lot of and I still do mostly Christian music when I play. Now, I just play when NO ONE is listening!

I could put it on CD for you if you can't get it on their website. Again, it was a once in a lifetime annointing. They reproduced it in CD quality but it wasn't the same as the original. I'm sure you remember the Alleluia album.

Yeah, I did. You just don't remember.
I remember playing the piano, when you brought me some flowers into the lobby of the hotel.
I can't remember what I did last weekend, but I remember that! Go figure!
