My friend who is the drummer for .38 Special has gone back on the road with the band, after taking time off during his beloved wife's brief (9week) battle with lung cancer.
She lost her battle several weeks ago. Everytime I hear from him via facebook, he asks me to continue to think of him and pray for him.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. They were true soulmates. My heart is breaking for him.
I've known him since we were in the 7th grade. I met her at our last high school reunion. She was a beautiful lady.
**Edited to add: .38 Special will be playing at EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival in November. We and some friends are already making plans to attend. We saw him in concert during the week of that same reunion almost 10 years ago...perfect timing...in Orlando, with a group of our friends from high school. It was a great concert!
Can't wait to see him again!!!

Watching the news with my hubby, a few moments ago we saw that Hal David, 91, passed away.
Wow...he lived to be an old man.
Then we were surprised to learn of his accomplishments.
He penned several very successful songs with Burt Bacharach.
Now, I suddenly feel old. Three songs that I have loved since I was a very young girl!
RIP Hal David!

Had my husband's younger brother, known to those who loved him as "Denny" survived Pancreatic Cancer, he would be celebrating his birthday today.
He was exactly 17 days older than I was...but the day he died...17 days later, he would remain forever younger than I.
It's hard to believe he will soon be gone for 7 years. He passed away on our youngest daughter's 21 birthday. That broke her heart....she loved him so much!
My hubby's song for him will always be the song that Donnie Van Zant wrote for his brother Ronnie...
Denny grew up in Florida with the rest of us...but moved to Alabama as we all were getting married and beginning our lives beyond our parent's homes.
His favorite song was, but of course, ....

Hey Karen,  didn't know this.....
someone said "The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it" I don't remember who, but cancer is like a thief to me it has taken so many before their time.

What you say is so true!!
I feel like I sound like a broken record...
But today my daddy would have been 82 years old...had he ALSO survived his battle with the same Pancreatic Cancer over 19 years ago.
I spoke with my mother earlier today...and we talked about both my dad and Denny now being "forever young".
Clint Eastwood spoke at the Republican National Convention...now the age my dad would have been. My mom and I agreed about how much he has aged...and Neil Armstrong passed away last week...also 82...
I said to her, I can't even imagine what my dad would have looked like had he survived to be 82. He'll forever in our minds be 62.
Cancer is a wicked disease, and pancreatic cancer was a death sentence. Daddy was gone 3 and 1/2 weeks after he was diagnosed. 13 years later, Denny lived about 6 months before he passed away.
I have cancer and alzhiemers in my family history. I am having more moments where I don't remember things...and it scares me to death.
I do NOT want Alzhiemers.
We always said, our miracle with my Daddy WAS that he only lived for 3 and 1/2 weeks from his diagnosis until he died.
Just let me go to sleep one night...and that be it.
If only we can choose the way we go...
My maternal grandfather was fishing...his favorite past time...
had a heart attack. Lived long enough to say good-bye to his family...in his 50's. That was a great way to go!
Cancer just grieves my spirit....as does alzhiemers.

Beautiful little song that I've heard quite a few times on the radio on my commute to and from work.
I finally heard the name this morning so I can share it with you. 
Laura's Blessings. Since I have a daughter by that name...who is a blessing to us...and a challenge to us at times...I love the title.
I need to go read the story behind the song.
