We had a cat thread every Saturday for several weeks running.

While it's not a requirement by any means, you'll find that there's a whole lot of gunner types here who love their kittehs, despite what the natural preconception would be seem to be. I'd be a good example of that, as I'm a very right-leaning, strong headed 6'3" ex-Marine that shares a house with two cats who make me talk funny. I can't help it. Their names are Lily and Eva.

Kitties like that are actually not too uncommon. I've had a couple that I've gotten from the Humane Society in the past. I'd be happy to look for you one next time I'm here.
