I am suspicious, especially of the date - October 25. This is very close to Halloween. In some past years, I have heard that shelters refuse to let people adopt black cats that close to Halloween. They are concerned that people will only want them as a prop for Halloween, and not as a pet.

Actually on closer inspection, that cat looks like it might be a burn victim.
