Please recommend a Spotting scope

I want to see my targets out to 250 yards. Maybe a little bird watching.

I don't need a Swarovski or Zeiss. I just need something simple and not terribly expensive. I'd like to stay under $300.

Recommendations?

Are there particular brands that you recommend? Are there brands to avoid?

Peruse this website for a great crash course in optics!

Orion is a first-rate company with some very nice product offerings!

I've ordered from them since 1988, and have always been 100% satisfied!

I recommend a 'used' Leupold Gold Ring off one of the forums. Excellent goods, and I have seen them for 200 to 300.

I have used them for 6 to 8 hours a day, with no eye or headache issues.
