More thinking with the wrong head...

We graduated a recruit class of 23 yesterday. Their graduation day will forever be tarnished by this story that was the front page story in the Lexington Herald- Leader.

http://www.kentucky.com/2012/08/09/2...isconduct.html

Long story short on the sergeant in the article: You know how there are some people that, based upon the way they have behaved towards women in the past and the 'locker room' stories that they have shared of their conquests, when you hear sexual misconduct allegations have been made against them, you immediately think "Oh yeah, he did that *****," without hearing any further details? This sergeant is one of those guys.

Stupid.

He'll fit in well in the new AMC cable series - "Small Town Security".

"Brown has been a police officer for more than 10 years. His personnel file, which the Herald-Leader obtained through an open-records request, shows no previous disciplinary actions against him."

Ten years and no disciplinary actions. I find this intersting.

I could suggest all kinds of things to your meaning, but what do you mean by that insinuation?

I went 11 years at one time with plenty of arrests and action on the job with no disciplinary action!!

It's about as bad as you can possibly imagine.

Have them run out of ideas, officially?

Is it that he was doing bad things all along and didn't get caught, was he doing bad things and he was in good with the admin, or was he always within all laws and procedures and had a momentary lapse? If it was the last one, what caused the rapid change in behavior?

I have never had any OFFICIAL disciplinary action in my entire career. Plenty of "counseling" sessions that stayed "in house" on shift. It means nothing, just media BS.

Letters of Counseling, which are given out routinely around here, only stay in our personnel files for one year and then have to be removed according to contract. The media wouldn't find out about those. Formal discipline as referred to in the article means serious stuff for which days off were imposed. You can get away with quite a lot before you reach that level of discipline.

*UPDATE* Well, that ended about as well as you would expect it to.

A Federal lawsuit is, of course, pending as well.
