Interesting things are getting interesting. The Supreme Court has ruled that Illinois's Attorney General Madigan can have a 30 day extension for filing an appeal. She has until June 24. This does not affect the deadline of June 9 for Illinois to legalize concealed carry or else constitutional carry goes into affect. The 2nd Amendment may go all the way to the Supreme Court.
Sorry for not posting a link about this. My phone won't let me grab it from the news app I was reading the story on.

Show the Anti gun Liberals that OC will deter crime -Get a group of hundred or so together and make it a day of showing them you can carry and be safe in the Most dangerous city!

I haven't seen any pigs flying and I don't believe hell has frozen over yet. But I'll be watching and listing for reports.

Be smart - retain an attorney in advance.

I'm headed to Utah on 6/5 to pick up 2 new smaller handguns to avoid printing. When I get back on 6/11 I will be cc. And, thanks to a court case ruling from the Illinois State Supreme Court in April 2011, nonresidents do not need FOID cards. In case CPD is watching this thread, I'm coming through Midway via Frontier Airlines and making my way over to I-94 and headed up to Lake County. You can call my attorney at the Judge Advocate Generals Office on Naval Station Great Lakes if you wish to try something. I also have attorneys in Salt Lake City that have passed the Illinois Bar and are licensed to practice law in Illinois. They specialize in Constitutional Law. Call Lisa Madigan and tell her to get ready. I'm coming.

I doubt anything will happen. Chicago can't afford the monstrously huge civil suite thanks to Moore & Sheperd v. Madigan.

Just some food for thought. Chicago requires a hand gun license. They also have a mag limit of 10. Im not sure how it works for non residents.

Hand gun license not applicable to nonresidents, Illinois Supreme Court April 2011. 10 round capacity only applies to holders of FOID cards. Must be a resident to get one. Again, Illinois State Supreme Court, April 2011. I do have a loophole I could exploit to obtain a FOID, but why when I can go to Wisconsin? Wisconsin acknowledges Utah cash and carry, and both Wisconsin and Illinois will allow me to purchase handguns because I'm a nonresident. Only advantage to a FOID is shorter drive for ammo and long guns, but Illinois dealers are so skittish that it still takes just as long.
Besides, the 2 smaller guns I'm picking up in Utah are the G30S and G36. G30S carries 10 while G36 carries 6. The other guns I will be traveling with are a Remington 870 Express Tactical with 8 shot tube and Blackhawk Spec Ops 2 foregrip and buttstock with pistol grip and a Glock 21C. Both will be kept in the locked case. Both are also firearms I will be departing Chicago with on 6/5, and will be returning with on 6/11. CPD can't touch those due to compliance with transport laws. Besides, I'm going through Midway, which is on the south side. I doubt CPD will be able to spot the guns even though I have announced them. They can't seem to find them in the neighborhoods where all of the murders are occurring.

Im lost lol Maybe someone should just PM me so I dont thread jack this.
So on the 9th if they dont pass a bill Illinois get constitutional carry meaning non residents from any state with a carry permit can cc? Without getting arrested?
Or is it one of those weird things where the federal government wont do anything but the state or local PD can arrest you?
I am living in Illinois with a carry permit from a different state and really wanna bring my gun here. Just grabbing it from my house and coming back will be legal on june
9th?
Thanks

From what I understand if nothing is done by the 9th you will be able to open and conceal carry. I believe that you will need a foid card if you are a resident. If non resident you should be good.
That being said some big shot in chicago said they would ignore the court order. Im going to guess its going to be a giant cluster f&#$.

Yea no doubt on that! Chicago and Cook County will probably be told to arrest anyone carrying open or concealed if they find them!

So with the June deadline fast approaching, all the usual suspects are coming out of the woodwork like Sheriff Tom Dart. He's saying he needs something in place to protect Chicago from becoming "The Wild West" so he's enacting a County ordinance. The Dem Senators keep trying to ram through their usual draconian legislation that keeps getting shot down. Am I missing something? When the deadline expires, the ENTIRE STATE goes Constitutional carry right? Did the Federal Judge's ruling allow for County by County self-exemption? Isn't Constitutional Carry better by far than any possible compromise that can come out of the Senate?

Nope and any County ordinance would not be supported by State law nor State Constitution! Seeing the COTUS is the law of the land -it would supperseed any County Ordinance! Anyone arrested under the county ordinance would become very rich via Cook counties violation of a Constitutional right! Smart Cook County resident should file suit as soon as the stupid sheriff/ county board passes the BS ordinance!
