I just had a chance to handle and shoot a Shield 9.
Nice little pistol. Felt as small & light in my hand, overall, as my CS9, but with a much thinner grip.
The controllability was at least as good as with my other smallish 9's (CS9, 3913, G26, SW999c), which was surprising considering the Shield has a thinner grip/backstrap. It felt like I was shooting standard pressure loads instead of the 124gr +P loads I was using.
I used both the 7 & 8 round mags. I found I didn't even notice the difference when using the shorter mag. It felt as good in my hand as the larger mag, and the little pistol was just that easy to control during recoil.
Practical accuracy was very good.
I'll be ordering one of my own in the next month or so.
Nicest of the smallest 9's I've handled and tried to date.

Scored one on Gallery of guns, checked everyday for 2 months. They released around 50 I am told. Had 19 left when I found it. $399

I have seen them at Vance's in Columbus Ohio a few times. Always $400 or under. It's the only place I have found them. I had searched for one for months and gave up and bought a G26, the next week is when I first saw one. Haven't had the cash to buy one yet. Good luck

I have also noticed this. Almost every time I see one it is a .40

I have fired a couple of M&P Shields and rather like them but they were both 9MM.
What's it like shooting a .40. I would think it's a little small for that caliber.

I have a Shield but haven't shot it yet. Gun store out of ammo. I think my range has some, but some ranges don't. The trigger on it feels smoooooothe!

Have both the 9 & 40 and rotate them for carry. Great pistols and my other carry pieces have been relegated to the safe.

I bought a new 9mm Shield at a gun show in Charlotte last Saturday. What few there are get swnapped up fast in this area. One guy wanted $600, which was way too high. I found another a $500, so I gritted my teeth and bought it. Glad I did. I put 100 rounds through it without a hitch. It is flat, compact, accurate, and fun to shoot. It rides well IWB in a Remora and absolutely disappears in my Smart Carry rig.
