Have you shot it yet with that light mount?
I tried one of those on my pump and it stayed on for 2 or 3 rounds. It could have been user error, but have not tried again.

chr edw, not yet I ordered a +2 mag extender and was waiting to get that on before I clamp in on for good and I found a surefire tail replacement for the G2 that is on a pressure switch so I have some more tinkering to do, but I was going to use some Loctite blue 242 on the screws once I get her setup the way I want.

My mossberg is currently under construction. i got an 8-shot persuader last year. first stage was to take the pistol grip off and replace with a shockwave raptor birdshead and remove the heat shield. second stage is a tac-star 6 shell sidesaddle and a fixed factory buttstock.
my plans in the near future include stippling the grips and adding a set of 590 ghost ring sights. will also add an elzetta light mount and, at the moment, im thinking a Fenix LD-20 light in the mount - gotta be a AA powered light.
anyway, here are some pics of the progress.

Stippled the grip on the stock yesterday. will be trying something on the forend soon, just gotta get through finals week first though :(
today, i put an elastic butt cuff on it with 5 rifled slugs and replaced the two slugs in the sidesaddle with 00 buckshot. also put a basic nylon 1.25" sling on it and ordered an Elzetta ZSM light mount to put a fenix ld-10 light in for now. im hoping the LD-10 will hold up until i can get another light rated for the recoil, but researching AA battery powered options. Will add another pic when the light is on.
Last piece of this build will be a set of Mossberg ghost ring sights from the 590a1 series, maybe a set of SPX sights depending on the price difference. Ordering these direct from Mossberg and installing them myself.

Thanks,
I'm almost positive its a Mako, I liked it because it has 2 picatinny rails on each side and 1 on the bottom for a flashlight holder ect...

11-87 SuperMag "Fun Gun" and the HD/BD Mossberg 500. (BD= Bear Defense.)

11-87 has a sidesaddle and 10 rd DMW tube, and a DMW Easyloader and a Nordic clamp in the box waiting to be fitted.
500 has an aftermarket railed forend, sidesaddle and 5 round elastic buttstock shellholder. It had a pistol grip when I got it and I scrounged up some nice wood furniture, but I haven't gotten around to putting the wood forend on because I kind of like the mismatched look.

And if you call your shotgun a " shotty", you are definitely in over your head.

First shotgun purchase!
I've owned a shotgun since my dad gave me a Winchester Model 37A for my first Christmas. This Remington 870 was the first shotgun that I bought myself.
I added the Allen shell holder and Quake Industries "The Claw" sling. It was slim pickings at Bass Pro Shop when I went shopping.

got the sling mounted along with a light mount from Elzetta. i also mounted an elastic butt cuff and filled it with slugs and the side saddle is now full of 00 buck along with the magazine. definitely need to get a longer sling as this one is maxed out already.

Was looking for a 870P with the Wilson/XS combo at my local dealer. Didn't have any in stock but pulled this 24899 (polished blue 870P) out of the back. Just too nice to leave there, maybe I'll have ghost rings installed on my parked 870P when I get it back from Remington. This one is perfect just the way it is.

I went to the range on Saturday and shot it with my dad. we were there mostly to work out some issues with his makarov and i forgot my box of target shells so we put a total of only 14 rounds of remington express 00 buckshot through it.
light mount held up great. i actually put it on too tight and had issues getting the magazine to cycle rounds. backed it off a 1/4 turn on a couple screws and it runs great.
i will need to get a better dedicated weapons light for it soon. the fenix will do in a pinch. i turned the light on when my dad fired off a mag full of rounds and i didnt check it between rounds but when he finished, it was strobing so the recooil was stout enough to cycle the modes at least once.
will be worth the $40 if it ever saves the life of a family member or myself. i just wont shoot it when turned on too much and make sure to check it out after the range trips.
anyone have any ideas on a AA powered light that can take this kind of abuse?

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find a AA light that is stout enough to take that kind of punishment. I think the minimum standard would be one of the Streamlight TLR's, they're cheap and they work (and available in AA). For personally when talking about the safety of my family, the lights on my guns are Surefire. Yes they are expensive but I amortize that expense by the extremely long time I have the lights. I've had several streamlight/insights products come and go but I bet I have every surefire light I've ever bought less one or two that were sold / traded to fund an upgrade. Buy a great light and you can move it around from gun to gun or as your needs change.
