+1. I had an amazing time during my trillion years before being "born". lol

Sure, Life sucks sometimes, but we make the best of it, try to maintain control of our own destiny... but in the end, we all are going back to that place we were before we were born... NON-existence. So cherrish the fleeting moments you have on earth, you won't get them back... we are all going to die... you, me, Billy Graham, Saddam, Hitler, everyone... so just make the best of it. Love and prepare your children, try and be a good person. Then understand you are going to perish... no heaven no hell... just not there.

Cheers.

This has always puzzled me also. Why we make up stuff to make ourselves feel better about dieing is beyond me.

There are some days I almost look forward to it.

Yes, stupidity, fear mongering, hatred, and bigotry never go out of style do they? They just get re-purposed.

To logic and reason... yes. Face it... your religion's time is running out. Every new generation has fewer and fewer people paying any attention to this nonsense you call Christianity. It is dying, thank GAWD! And you mean spirited fire and brimstone evangelicals can wail and moan all you like. It isn't gonna change a damn thing. Christianity's on the way out. Mankind is growing up and putting away its toys.

Of course what I paraphrased was "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven an on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father"---" For as I have told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things."

What a limited and narrow vision you have. Nothing but archaic nonsense. I feel sorry for your kind. What wasted lives.

Speaking of wasted lives and breath.....These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others to their own advantage. These are men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

Jim,

---the same faith that has brought stability, truth, justice, social order, morality and a sanctity of life previously unknown in history.

Do we live on a different plants? In 2000 years Christain has not changed a thing. Man still kills man as fast as we can. Stablility??? Stability?? you seriously think there has every been stability in mankind. We must have different history books.

I think that things are getting better.
The wars are kindled by religion. This has to be seen before it can be fixed.

America the free to me outweighs Christianity in the goodness that it can bring this planet.

Christians always think we have to be at war. Their book is tribal from beginning to end. They always have to have a fight with something. Then they call you godless for pointing it out.

Over more than 2000 years, the conflict accelerated in stages until we now find ourselves in what has all the markings of a final push to finish the crusade to wipe out the faith---the same faith that has brought stability, truth, justice, social order, morality and a sanctity of life previously unknown in history. They will rip the cross out of the ground and ignore God's free unwarranted gift, to get themselves into hell.

I have no idea what this rant has to do with humanity's motivation, but I read the title and thought I'd post about our evolved motivation.

Things that motivate us are, or at least were, beneficial to our survival, so it's just natural selection.

Yeah, that won't change. In time our survival instinct picks up on new challenges and we act accordingly.

Heaven and hell appeal to this in the ego. If you can convince people that there is a burning hell and only one way to save your self from it, you got them hooked. This is the motivation of Christianity and the OP's rant.

Well yeah, but it's so slow, you can't see it. It's not like we are going to evolve past drug use or eating too much anytime soon. quan lot nu do boi nam cao cap xe day du lich ao so mi nu thoi trang cong so chup anh nghe thuat cho be
