Thoughts on this?
First thought that came to mind is: a promise is a promise.

Obamacare does not affect Tricare or VA medical benefits. I read that on a Tricare website recently. Sorry but I don't have a link to that but you're welcome to google it for yourself.

Remember that this is just some think tank's "ideas" not policy change announcements from the gov, so I wouldn't let this get me in a tizzy. Any changes to our benefits are going to have to pass through our legislative branch first and few of them are going to vote for changes that will make them seem unpatriotic.
I don't doubt that somewhere down the line our benefits will be affected by cuts or premium increases by Tricare but I don't believe that the changes will be this aggressive.
Lets just hope that our government does the right thing and reduces the deficit by cutting government fat and welfare before attacking military benefits.

The current educational benefits for military are insane. If anything, they need to start there.
I'd like to see them substantially cut or modify military retirement. They will see a drastic cut in volunteers.
Before cutting any other military benefits, how about doing the same for Federal workers.

A 20-something old Army recruiter told me how much $ he made. There are a handful components to his compensation, totaling close to $70K. I feel that he is probably overpaid by 30-40%.

NO 20 year old military recruiter makes 70K. Period.
