SBR Tax Stamp Wait Time
I guess this isn't your typical thread on the subject, because I'm not asking about it. I recently got my tax stamp in the mail, and wanted to share how long it took, so others waiting might have an idea.
I mailed off my Form 1, and check, on April 2nd, and used a trust. On September 15th I got it sent back with a letter that I didn't do the duplicate form properly. It was my first NFA registered rifle, so I made a copy of my original Form 1 (with signature) and sent them both in. I didn't realize they wanted both forms with original signatures on them. I corrected it and sent both back the same day.
Got my tax stamp in the mail on September 29th (it was signed on September 26th). I wasn't expecting it until the end of November or beginning of December. I also expected my screw up to set it back... Lucky me!
The funny part is that when reprinted the forms and signed them, I dated them September 15th, so on my form it looks like it only took me 11 days to get approved.
It seems that it took them right at 5 months to get to my forms. I hope someone finds this helpful.

Was it the new no lick stamp or the old kind?

So from the time you sent out your forms to the time you got your stamp back in the mail, looks like about 5 and a half months, roughly.

I had been hearing 9 months on average lately, but my most recent one took from about February to September.

5-6 months is the average current wait for Texas residents at this time. Good to hear that it is still the same, though I wish they would speed it up.
3 form 4s sent in on August 10th. Currently waiting (im)patiently for February to roll around.

When it comes to the NFA world, I wish there was such thing as a Class 3 license.
You apply, jump thru the hoops, pics, fingerprints, background, One time.
Now with your Class 3 license, you could order, have any class 3 item shipped straight to your dealer, or go right into a class 3 dealer, find the weapon, suppressor, machinegun, pay for it, and take it home the same day!!
No CLEO signature, no trust needed, no more pics, no more finger print cards.
It is a nice dream anyway..........

You can become a class III dealer, still have to wait 6-8 weeks for the form 3 though.

Must also have a brick and mortar store location. From what 2 local SOTs have told me, the ATF is no longer approving them for home FFLs.

Sent mine in on April 18th, they cashed check on the 24th and it went pending on June 4th. Form 1 SBR in trust.
Hoping mine comes soon since yours was five months. I hope it is five months from April and not pending date.
Well it must be pending date since I am past five months from when they received it.

My SBR took nine months. AOW was seven. Who knows when I get a suppressor and SBS?

We're seeing form 4's coming back to the shop that are averaging 6 months. The last 2 that I did for myself in early 2009 came back in 11 weeks. Never see wait times like that again.

My last stamp was a Form 4 individual from 10/6/11 received on 5/4/12 with a small delay due to not having filled in the OAL for the suppressor.
I just dropped another Form 4 in the mail on 9/7. This time as a trust. Hope it goes faster this time around.
Still waiting on my lower to come in so that I can get the engraving done and the Form 1 in the mail.

Spoke too soon. Mine showed up today. Approved on 09/28/12. I sent it in in mid-April. I did a Form 1 on a trust.
Let's try again with another SBR in 300BLK and a Suppressor and see if they can keep to this 5 month time table.

Your right, those were the days, eh?
I got two suppressors back in late May after a 6 month wait. My MAC was two months back in 85, and my MP5 went through in 30 days back in 86. They were the quickest, and the cheapest.
