+1. Like in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" the G17 was too big, the G26 was too small and the G19 was just right.
The G19 is perhaps the top seller for Glock, to bad they dont still offer it in the Gen2.

Exactly, because the Majority found it to the best all around gun. Only 2 rounds difference and easier to conceal. And if I "have" to have 17rd
I'll get a +2 base/finger extension
If I want a full size Glock it will be a G20 10mm or G21 45acp.
That's worth the extra size & weight.
The FBI issue gun out of the academy is another compact, G23

We have all three. When we go out to the range we sometimes take friends, some of them have never handled a firearm before. It's nice to have a variety to show them, so they can choose which one they like and then want to purchase.

Sell the 17, buy a 19, keep the 26. The end......

You'd have 2 calibers covered and some variety.
I have a 26, 17 and 30 and think I will be adding a 23 espcially since .40sw is THE only stuff on the shelf at the moment.

This is a good idea!

I believe that the NYPD officers have a choice between the Glock 19, Sig P226 and S&W 5946 and I thought they actually purchased the handgun themselves through the department somehow. But I might be wrong.
And my guess is that for other than the choice, most officers have/had little input into which was selected although I am sure they did some tests with some representative officers. But I might be wrong on this too.

Own a 26, 19, 17 and 34.
Wouldn't get rid of any of them.
26/19 for CCW, 17 for HD, 34 for IDPA and of course they are all great for a fun day at the range.

My 19c is my favorite
23 is second
26 third
22 fourth
When I pick up my 30 next week I may have to completely start over with this list.

This is so true....
Plus it's always fun to get a new gun...
I say get a 19. If you don't like it, sell it. Actually, just sell the magazines for $100 each on ebay and keep the gun. Then use the 9mm mags you already have.

Take a look at my signature line.
I see the G17 as my primary home defense with a Surefire X300, and competiton gun. On occasion I'll carry it concealed.
My two G19's are my go to concealed carry guns for mostly 9 months out of the year. On occasion I use either of them in the role of home defense. They are my "favorite" guns in the line up.
My G26 Is for those times of year in Texas I'm wearing shorts with big pockets, and t-shirt because it is ridiculously hot outside. Though I have used this gun as my primary concealed carry at other times of the year.
A future Gen 4 G34 wold likely take over, (most of the time), primary home defense duties with said Surefire X300. It may actually be used in concealed mode. I've done the latter with a Gen3 G35 that I owned. It's not difficult, and I'm 5'8".
A future Gen4 G17L would likely be used in a similar fashion as the Gen 4 G34.
All my guns are likely to see action in GSSF matches, possibly IDPA, (not sure about a G17L in this game), and USPSA.
Anyway the different sizes, though same caliber, offer enough variety, while keeping the guns stock, and specializing on one caliber. Likewise I like the challenge of taking the guns out of the traditional roles I've created for them and do something else with them, say using the future Gen4 G17L for concealed carry.
Someone mentioned it earlier, by taking friends to the range and letting them try different size guns to see which ones they like best. Did this the other day with my two brothers, and one of my sisters. The Gen4 G17, and G19, (only took one) were hits, the Gen 4 G26 not as much. All still had fun.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Best,
Dave

Get a 19. I have a 17 and a 19 and as soon as I can scrounge up the $$$ I'll have a 26 to complete the trio.
17 for the nightstand/range.
19 for carry when I can conceal it.
26 for those times I cant and/or BUG if I ever feel the need.

I actually sold my g26, and carry my 19 now instead. The 19 prints ever so slightly more, but I get a 50% increase in capacity and a bigger grip. I got a kahr cm9 for deep concealment.
Anyways, I would get a 19 to go with your 17, unless you have monster paws.

Even though I'm a big fan of the G26 and use one as my EDC...I think the G19 is the best general purpose 9mm on the market.
