Wifey carries a G26 everywhere with a hybrid OWB holster I made for her. Conceals very good with a light cover blouse. Purse carry sucks because that's what the bad guy goes for and IWB is just not comfortable. OWB done right works.

You should clarify that your advice is but one of many and not as THE ADVICE. Yes, you have experience with training women and packing guns. You think that you're the only one with such experience?

With this in mind, I find it funny that you were in fact arguing with a woman about what is best for women.
I took exception to her opinion that is based on a male instructor's opinion.

Women have minds of thier own, and are typically better natural shooters then men, mainly because they listen, and want to learn. Most women I know like larger caliber handguns. I know several which carry 2 1/2" S&W 629 s or S&W 686s.
That's why I said that women should make informed opinions based on a multitude of venues.

The little old lady you were picking a fight with has 2 G23s and a Dan Wesson in 357.
Good for her. My cousin packs a Glock 19. One of my best friend packs a Springfield Armory M1911A1. One of my other cousins packs a Colt Commander. My niece packs a SIG Sauer P239. They all arrive at these selections on their own and not because I deign to force on them what I think is best for them.

And lastly, from your profile, and tag line, you present yourself as the least qualified to give advice to ANY female.
I don't claim to be some sort of "expert". My advice is just an opinion formed by my own experience and background into the world of shooting. People can take it for what it's worth.

Yes there are many ways to carry, and many handguns. As was stated in the GATE Self defence forum, women face the same threats as men, so the same weapons are justified..
Some men carry lightweight snubbies. Some men carry mouseguns. Should women automatically carry these guns too? Some men also think that .50 Cal Desert Eagles make great self-defense guns. Should women choose the same thing because they face the same threats as men?

Generalizations is just stupid.

I am officially done with this thread.

And I am not. I want to make sure that the female shooters understand that they are the ones who should exercise their brains and decide what's best for them based on their lifestyle choices. I want to advice them to take opinions, especially opinions from men, with a graint of salt.

I understand I'm not the normal woman so I can't speak for everyone. However, I choose early on that if I was going to carry, that I was going to carry all the time and on my person. Not in a purse or anything else that I could drop or have ripped out of my immediate control.

I carry a full size .45 caliber pistol on my belt and in the summer, I carry it IWB. The draw is faster and I'm able to gain access to my weapon faster should I need it.

If the OP's wife is only carrying a small J frame, IWB carry shouldn't be much of a issue for her. I would encourage the OP to encourage his wife to carry in a holster on her belt or IWB over any other method of carry.

Yeah, good point...my EDC is a KelTec .380 which I slip in my pocket with a Glock 23 in a murse for serious work. None of THAT is relevant save that in Ohio, businesses can ban a CCW by posting a sign in a window, so you really need some way to easily drop a weapon if needed. IWB makes that just a bit more inconvenient. Ohio has a screwy CCW system, but it bears what we had before, which was nothing.

She is experimenting with options, as frankly am I.

Ohio also has open carry without license, but try THAT in a city around here...<Sigh>

There is an organization called The Well Armed Woman. The link is www.thewellarmedwoman.com. They have an excellent discussion of holsters, purses, bellybands, etc. for the woman who wishes to concealed carry. There are excellent videos showing the types of carry as well as how to use them and why.
