Just like Flipper said that "Obama won't come after our guns, that's why I'm voting for him."
Yup, he knows a lot too.

The tactical shotgun is alive and well in my household. Yep, a Mossy 930SPX and a Remington 870P is the way here. Between OO buck, Slugs and #4Buck is the way to go. IMHO everyone should a pump and semi tact shotgun.

Hummmm........Well, at my house, I will not shoot throught the door, however, I will shoot low, crotch, or lower. Just to unsure they don't run off.
The shotgun has a purpose. You don't build a race car with a nail gun. The right tool for the right job. Anyway, a shotgun has a terrible way of removing body parts, at close range.

Being from Alabama. The first thing you learn is to daddy's shotgun. Even if it knocks you down, you get up and shoot it again.
Punkinballs, cut loads, buckshot, birdshot, makes for good times.

The one great advantage about a shotgun is it scares the daylights out of most people.
It doesn't matter that the movies and TV are probably why it has a "legendary" psychological effect on people, and that fear has nothing to do with reality........just milk it for what it's worth!

Versatile, inexpensive, ammo is still available even in panic driven hoard-fests, and you don't need hours upon hours of training to shoot one effectively.
Hardly obsolete.

Interesting point...Not that one would ever want to rely solely on the psychological impact of the appearance of any type of weapon -- but by the same token, one cannot discount its effectiveness as part of a total package.
In general, I doubt that the home invader in question would care if the muzzle he confronted belonged to a shotgun, semiautomatic rifle, or handgun . But given the opportunity to present the maw-end of a 12-gauge shotgun, there likely would be some synaptic response ingrained in that perp from having seen a bazillion Hollywood flicks of people being shot by them, and getting hurled 10 yards back, through a cinder-block wall, to lie in a heap resembling a pile of raw hamburger.
