Just random thinking here at 2 am, but I'd rather spend any money available for training with existing weapon systems, instead of switching to marginally better weapons.

Too weak. I would go with the Klingon or Romulan disruptor.

That isn't a very good explanation where, as in this thread, they are complaining about the military NOT spending more money to replace weapons and NOT buying more expensive ones.

They were probably already told what guns they could get, and this testing was just a farce.

Exactly!!! Since that their tax dollars would be used, they want GIs to get the best guns...in their opinions.

This argument never ends. Some lazy ass never cleans his rifle and if it jams its the rifles fault. After watching how some of these "soldiers" care for their rifles, or expend excessive ammo, I'm not surprised. In Vietnam the VC and even the regulars were hopped up on heroin and you had to hit them 5 or 6 time to stop them, and it didn't make any difference if you were using a 762X51 or not. Head and spine shots stop them cold, heart shots..5-10 seconds, COM shots then you had to expend numerous follow up shots.

Ummmm OK....how many 80 KM night time movement to contact's have you made standing in the open hatch of an armored vehicle bathing in choking baby powder fine dust for the last 3 days?

My personal experience commanding a couple hundred soldiers in combat is different...

I think the real question is how come we give a soldier a rifle that can't perform under those conditions....

YMMV
