It grandfathers in our 10 round mags, but we can only load 7.

We can keep our "assault weapons" but must register them. (definition of term is expanded to 'magazine-fed semi' with ONE military-like characteristic.

Confiscation: ONLY IF, we are, or live with someone, who has an ORDER OF PROTECTION against them, (etc.)

Look on the good side. You won't have to worry about weakening your mag springs... sounds like NYers need to practice mag changes.

Hard to believe they could make it even dumber, but they have.

So if you have a 10 rounder and load 8 so you can chamber one, leaving 7 in the mag, are you technically breaking the law for those 3 or 4 seconds before you chamber one?

The old law outlawed 2 - such as: pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug, threaded barrel for silencer, etc.

A previous proposal included a barrel shroud as one banned item and claimed possession of 10 or more firearms would be a Class B Felony.

"Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault weapons under the new "one-feature" test, as well as weapons grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be
registered. Current owners of these banned weapons may transfer the weapons only to a firearms dealer or transfer to an out of state buyer. All registered owners will be subject to a review of
disqualifiers by the State Police.

You have mandatory register with state all AR/AK - What will be the FEE for this registration? The State Police are the ones that approve or disapprove your AR/AK onwership. So if they don't like you- maybe had one to many speeding tickets or fail to pay said ticket, maybe got a ticket for a loud party! No guns for you! Fail the test turn your AR/AK into the state for destruction!

Section 38 of the bill amends Penal Law � 265.00(23) to ban all large capacity magazines that have the capacity to hold more than ten rounds of ammunition including those that were grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban and creates a new ban on magazines that hold more than seven rounds of ammunition. Magazines that can hold more than seven rounds but not more than ten rounds and are currently possessed will be grandfathered in, but may only contain seven rounds of ammunition. Exceptions are made for large capacity magazines that are curios or relics.

I'm sorry this paragraph must have been written by a two year old casue it makes no sense what so ever! Illegal beyond ****ing belief!

Section 48 of the bill amends the Penal Law to require that every county recertify a gun license holder's license every five years. Failure to recertify during this five year period equates to revocation of the license. The section also adds bases for denial of a license to an applicant, including connection of a felony orserious offense, being presently subject to an order of protection; and expands the criteria for denial based on an applicant's history of mental illness.

Failure to get liceensed -means your now a felon -they take your guns ALL OF THEM!

When every anyone of your family members go see any doc for mental issues your now under the gun there records will be used to Qualify your licence- remember state police list of disqualifiers!

"Section 43 amends Penal Law � 265.17 to include criminal sale or disposal of a weapon by providing a firearm, rifle or shotgun to a person knowing he or she is prohibited by law from possessing such firearm, rifle or shotgun. The penalty is raised from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class D felony

This is the law used too make you a felon when your licence becomes invalid! Remember so they can take every gun you own!

Load 7 in mag, insert mag into gun, chamber top round, eject mag and top off. No violation.

Nope you have to permently modify those 10 rounders. They will confiscate your 10/ 20/30 round mags for your AR's an AK's cause you have to take them to the State police to register them! And then when you fail there criteria for the permit they will take you AR's/Ak's! Want to bet money on this?
