I had mine built for my G17L with SurefireX200. Perfect.

A guy I work with came up to me a couple of years ago and said he had a new in the box 17L that he had bought at Cabela's for $699. Then he spent another $100 putting factory night sights on it. Long story short I got it for $400. One of my better deals!

You stole that gun. Last new one I had sold for $800!

I had a couple of FTF or FTE on mine in the first box just wondering if the physics are on the edge with this gun, the slide being soo long, anyone else experience this?

Never!!

Never Ever sell a G17L. A G34 is great, a G17 is of no use, A G19 is Great and for some a G26 is Very Good.

The G17 is the most widely used Glock in the world. The Philippine police just made the largest order in Glock history of 74,000 G17's. The British military just dropped the Hi-power in favor of the G17.

Please don't take this the wrong way but this post makes no sense at all.

Thanks for all the input guys. Picking up the pistol tomorrow, 500 rounds of freedom munitions reloads are also in the mail. Full shooting report to follow at some point this week. I am going to break down and go to a shooting range since we have a steel range near here and I won't be able to make it out to the ranch this week.

Enjoy your shooting. I just got through my first hundred rounds of Freedom 9mm (147 gr) in my M&P Shield and G19. Great ammunition at a good price. I haven't tried their reloads yet, but I have with Georgia Arms with no problems.

Yes! I picked the gun up today. Wow! So excited to shoot her tomorrow. Initial impressions are great trigger (but definitely different than all my gen4s ive been shooting) and I was amazed at all the extra milling inside the slide to remove weight. No wonder these things are a little more expensive, more work went into them. Pictured next to my 42 to give some scale :-)

PS...Test fire date of 9/28/2011. Any idea why/how this gun sat around at some distributor without getting sent to a shop and sold?

Model 17L Range Report:

Important Stuff: 200 rounds down range, blazer brass 115 grain. No failures of any kind. The gun shoots right on out of the box, maybe a slight 6 o'clock hold. I may adjust sights to get closer to 6 o'clock. Shot 10" action target plate racks at 10 and 20 yards and action target dueling tree at 10 yards.

Action: Really smoothed up over the first 200 rounds. Before I shot it the slide was pretty loud and "creaky" when you racked it. Now it is about normal. I guess I will attribute that to the recoil spring breaking in a bit.

Trigger: Was already pretty good but the take up was a little bit gritty initially. This smoothed right up with 50 or so dry fires and 200 rounds. Trigger is now right there with any of the dozen or so glocks I own or have owned. I won't say it's the best necessarily, I think I prefer the crisper break of then gen4 trigger overall, but it is right there.

Shootability: Wow, just wow. This thing made me feel like I could really shoot. Recoil is virtually non-existent so target acquisition is quicker than any Glock I have shot. I have shot thousands of rounds of 40 out of my 23 and 27 in the last several months and this is obviously just a different ball game.

Overall Reaction: I really like this gun. It has a great trigger and virtually no recoil. The long sight radius makes it very shootable. I think it will make a great gun for me to continue to introduce my friends to handgun shooting. I look forward to many thousands more rounds down range with this thing. Cannot wait to get it out to my steel range and work it out at 50-100 yards!

Nice, aren't they? As an added benefit, at the range you can say to all the other Glock owners: "Mine's longer!"
