Help, Cat, Keyboard, Little Screen

My cat just walked across the laptop keyboard and shrunk the whatever it is called screen, it is small, does not fill up the whole screen.

How to I restore the screen back to it's full size?
Cat is mad at me for moving her off the keyboard.
I am upset cause the picture is small.

Help?

So, the screen doesn't fill up the whole um, screen? Without knowing what screen you are talking about, or what OS you are using I'm gonna guess IE on a windows machine has been zoomed out. Zoom in by pressing control and the plus button.

Using firefox, windows 8. The screen that you see when you turn on the computer, or go online.
Tried the control plus, it makes the type and things on screen larger, but the "picture" is still not filling the whole screen.

there are black spaces on the right and left sides of the screen.
Sorry, can't explain it any better.

Waterboard the cat until he tells you what he did. Cats don't like water. He shouldn't hold out too long.

looks like it changed from 16:9 to 4:3 or something like that. If your laptop uses function keys (mostly on the F-keys) check them for something that looks like it would change your desktop.
Would help to post what kind of laptop it is.

If that doesnt help, take a screenshop by pressing "print" and insert it into an email to somebody who might be able to help you (or post it here if you know how to do it)

I'll take a wild stab

top right corner of the screen you'll see an "x" for close down to its left a double box/window, and then a dash. click on the double screen window. Sounds like all you did was reduce. PS: have win 7, never viewed used 8. My computer guy told me if I get 8 he will not be able to service my computer in the future.

Hard to say with Windows 8 - but maybe this will help you resolve your issue:

http://superuser.com/questions/55066...in-full-screen

I hate Windows 8. Whatever you do, don't update to 8.1. Wow did they break things, and you can't revert. If you do update to 8.1 make sure you make a backup. Not set a restore point, a full backup. You'll probably want it after you find 8.1 breaks lots of drivers and applications and offers no real improvement over 8.

I used to say Windows 8 is the new Windows Millenium Edition, but it's far worse. ME just had low adoption, 8 has been forced on everyone and it's just garbage. MS is grasping at straws trying to stay relevant in the OS market.

Anyway, GL.

what he told me. He WILL NOT SUPPORT ME IF I GO WIN 8. Has nothing to do with his abilities, has more to do with the frustration he anticipates me having with the system and the number of times I'll be calling him to untangle a mess I find myself in. He said it sucks donkey kong, I trust his judgement and when I bought a new machine recently, I saved by getting a unit with win7 home edition and no headaches!
