That's a good post. I just wanted to see how people take this story from just the surface level without knowing the backstory. Seems like many posters could see it as a true story, and it may be. I could personally believe a story like this if it came from a trusted source, but it isn't so I have my doubts. I could tell I was being misled somehow. My best guess is accident, but the details will remain hidden.

I try to take a full-scope view at things, which pushes my opinions to being against the norm here on GT.

Definitely believable. My 4 month old Doberman pup is velcroed to my leg most of the time. Easy to get tangled up and trip.

Not me.

Maybe if it were a small dog, but even then, dogs in general are fast at getting out of the way. A dog following you does not equate to a dog staying under you if you fall.

Yaup.

More common probably to step on them and break legs, but certainly.

He probably tripped on the dog then fell on the dog.

Dog's lay in the darndest places sometimes!

Hope the dog heals well.

I think my dog has been trying to kill me, tripping me on the stairs every chance he gets. I haven't fallen on him yet, though.

My dog does this. He also lays outside of closed doors, actually touching the door. Get up to pee in the middle of the night? Better check right outside the door when you come back out in the dark. He's there. Waiting to commit his next assassination attempt.

My buddy Jack tripped over his pug, then twisted sideways to avoid falling on it. He got a cracked rib out of the incident.

Should be fairly easy to check for abuse by observing how the dog reacts to the BIL.
