Buy A G26 Or a 40-9 conversion for the 27?

The thread title pretty much says it all. I purchased a G26 Gen 4 for the better half and she loves the gun. Problem is so do I. I am pretty invested in the G27 Gen 4 I have because I have a ton of 40 mags for it and my G23. I also have a .357 G32 barrel that I run in both .40 guns occasionally. Additionally the G27 Gen 4 has TFO night sights on it which I really love.

I am considering the benefits of us sharing carry ammo, mags, and the fact that if we were both carrying the same guns this could come in handy.

My main reason for this is the ability to have guns in 9mm, 40s&w, .357 sig, and 10mm.

What say you GT fellas?

Regards, GMB

If you already have the 27, I'd say barrel only...but from scratch..I'd say 26...

Ability to shoot multiple calibers is great, but I found that I never did..so I sold my 23, both barrels, all the ammo and just got 19...chasing down 3 different types of ammo got annoying to me..

Since she has a 26 already, you wont have to get mags (.at least I wouldnt) I think your situation. 40-9 is the good call.

I guess it would depend on what caliber you intend to actually carry for SD use. I've had great luck with the LWD 40-9 conversion barrels. But, I carry the 40 and have 9mm barrel for practice/target to save a few bucks. I would not carry the conversion barrel for SD unless it were an absolute worst case out of ammo situation.

I'm considering a Glock .357 SIG barrel for my old Gen 2.5 G27. I already have a Glock G22 barrel for my Gen 4 G31. I don't have any urge to get 9x19mm capability....357 SIG more than satisfies...and cheap 9x19mm ammo doesn't exist anymore.

You seem to have those bases covered as well.

You always can change upper slide for different calibers with G26 frame up to .357 SIG. You will need G29 or G30 to fire .40, 10mm, and .45s.

IIRC 9mm, .40, .357 Sig & .45 GAP share the same frames. 10mm & .45 ACP share the same frames.

It's a no-brainer. Buy the aftermarket 9mm barrel for the G-27 and a couple of G-26 magazines.

For other than carrying I agree the conversion is the most cost effective way to go.

Sure--they'll fit just fine. The ejectors are different, however.

If you run the 40-9 conversion barrel, you can keep the same ejector, because the bore is slightly off-center so that the ejector will function properly. The only thing I would recommend are dedicated 9x19 magazines for this configuration. I used this config on my G33, and I liked it so much that I went ahead and picked up a G26

I would go with the 40-9 conversion for the G27.

Congrats that's the way I would have gone to. By the time you get a conversion barrel and three or four mags your halfway to the cost of another gun.
