Just made my day to stumble across some fellow pilots. I'm going into Airport Management (finishing up my Bachelors in Aviation Management) and I fly privately as well.

As far as your search goes, how much are you looking to spend? Can't go wrong with a Mooney!

I'd love to have a Mooney. Even an M20E will probably get you 145-150 knots. I'd love to have a J, but I think between the complex prop, retractable gear and maintenance, that'd be alot of cost to eat. I'm looking at Grumman Cheetahs and Tigers. I've flown a Cheetah, which has the 150hp engine (Tiger has a 180hp) and it is delight to fly. Really spoiled me after having most of my time in Cessnas. You can find a Cheetha in pretty good shape for about 35-40K.

Why would you pick a C310 if you know nothing about it? Go out and fly some different twins and then make a choice. Personally they scare me.

All Mooneys are 2 seaters. Regardless how many seats are in them. I built some of my time in a 20C. Great airplane.

Some of the older Piper twins will haul just about whatever you can get in the door. Apache, Aztec, Navajo. I have a few hundred hours in a Navajo Chieftain from an early cargo job I had. They do great in the ice and have awesome payload capabilities. Lycoming 540's are big and powerful engines with their associated pros and cons though.

Me, when I hit the lottery I'm going for a Bell/Textron Long Jet-Ranger Helo. Seats 7 with Air Conditioning. Sky King liked the Cessna 310.
