Ammo shortage

There is a sickening ammo shortage in the US. Wherever you go to try to purchase ammo, you can find none of your favorite calibers on the shelves. If you buy online, prices are ridiculously high! I don't know if there is a hidden top secret agenda why this is happening but it's making things hard for law abiding gun owners (recreational shooters and such) to purchase ammo for their favorite past time. My suggestion is to stop hoarding ammo, don't buy those ridiculously priced ammo online and for sure, hopefully, fingers crossed, ammo prices will go down when supply outweighs demand. Just my 2 cents worth. peace!

Our part of the world have ammo components, particularly primers becoming scarce as of late. Prices have remained as they are though despite the shortage.

This has all been blamed by unprecedented demand in the US.

I suspect this is in preparation for a JIC scenario against North Korea.

Tonight was the first night in long time that most if the walmarts around here got 22 rounds in. I checked online and there were 555 packs at 6 walmarts around my area.

Sir Isuzu, you could be right. That's what i suspect as well. Hopefully this tension against north korea would die down eventually and not escalate into a full scale war. Scary thought.

I agree with you. Its more than abusive, it can be called rape. Prices are ridiculously high. They know that this is the right time for them to dictate the prices on ammos coz there are a lot of panic-buyers out there who will break their banks just to get a hold of these rare commodities these days. They said that theyve never seen anythin like this before, not even during the 2008 elections. Hopefully, we' ll soon see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ammo shortage? There is always a shortage here in the Philippines. It's either a shortage or crazy expensive ammo prices.

In the Philippines, you have Armscor that locally produce ammo so you are not very reliant on imported ammo. Critical would be availability of the components which I would imagine is all imported.

I was surprised with 9mm ammo in the US something like almost a dollar per round. Is this true?

The biggest problem locally, will be primers and powder.

Looks like Euro stuff would be the only option (russo primers and VV powders)

went to the g'ville, sc gun show this past weekend (the crowd was much smaller than the feb show but still more folks than normal) and talked to a couple of local ammo producers. Precision one ammo said they can get compenents for about anything they want with some trouble with hollow points. The problem for them is price of the components. they limit their inventory so they dont get caught with alot of inventory when the price drops back to normal. Another vendor, Georiga Arms had lots of ammo even the hard to get stuff - 9mm, .223, etc. they had a one 500rd can limit per person. 124gr 9mm 500rd cans was $145. you can not order on their website but you can buy at there store or the shows they attend. so maybe you should try looking for ammo makers in your area and call them instead just looking on their web sites.

Down under, US branded ammo has always been more expensive than European ammo particularly those coming from Russia.

In saying that, prices here have not really moved significantly over the last couple of years.

It was the perfect storm, SAndy Hook, DHS ordering 1.5 Billion rounds the nest 5 years plus the panick buying = ridiculous ammo shortages. If you can find 5.56 here you will pay a premium. $1 a round.
