Norinco AK for a Mini-30?

I've got a NIB Ruger Mini-30 I've had since the mid 90s. Listed it on Armslist and a guy with a Norinco AK, underfolder stock, contacted me and offered an even trade.

He's the original owner, bought it in the late 80s, says it's in like-new condition and has only fired about 100 rounds through it.

He lives about 90 minutes away, so I haven't seen it yet. Going to take a look at it sometime this weekend, but we've got a big storm forecasted for tomorrow, and I don't know when I'm going to make it.

What's the consensus? I don't know much about Norincos. If it's in the condition he claims, and I make an even trade, am I getting a fair deal, a great deal, or ripped off?

Are you freaking kidding me?
1) The Mini-30s don't run imported surplus ammo.
2) Norico is one of the very best AKs.

Run to make the deal!

I don't even like Chicoms that much and I would jump on that. Come to think of it, I don't like Ruger Mini's either.

I had 2 Mini 30's. I always liked the compactness of them. Only problem I never could find ANY high cap mags that worked for them.

On the other hand the Norinco's I owned were totally flawless. Mags were always there always worked.

Jump on that deal but just make sure it's not one of third pin (machine gun) Norincos.

The guy flaked on me.

Middle of last week he was all hot to trade, couldn't wait to do it. Today when I called him to set up a meeting, he backed out and said he wasn't interested in trading anymore.

Oh well. I've had a couple AR-15 offers I'm going to look into now.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yep, I can believe he flaked away... He probably asked about this trade on other forums - and was called an idjit for even thinking about it.
Norcs and PolyTechs are good guns and the CHICOMs will never EVER be imported again.

Not to offend, but Ruger is still making Mini-14s and 30s and will still be doing so even if the AWB hits. Nothing "scarce" there.

Meanwhile, I've been looking for a FTF trade for my unconverted RAAC SAIGA 7.62x39 for a WASR U/Folder or a Mini-14 - and have had no interest.
If it doesn't happen, oh well - guess I'll buy a new Mini-14 at WalMart. New SAIGAs are a bit harder to come by.

Absolutely take the Norinco and run. I've got Legend that I wouldn't trade for the world. It's never let me down other than a broken shell casing once. It's an absolute tack driver and will run on anything I feed it.
