Yes it is. Because it is cartoon the characters can stay the same age forever. Of course sooner or later one of the main actors is going to die and the show will limp on for a few years before somebody mercy kills it.

SNL has my vote for being tops on the list for a mercy kill. There are flashes of brilliance on that show but not every skit is gold. I think people tend to idolize it because they remember the hits fondly and forget the misses. That is why they make ****ty movies based on SNL skits. They think they just have to piece together the best of a season or two and they will have a hit. Once a decade they have a hit. The next ten years they pollute movie theaters.

Anything that is not a live sporting event. The rest are cancelled by using the remote controller.

I would like to see that potty mouth brit fry cook to get pimp slapped just one time.

I cancelled the whole deal. Judging from what I see when I stay in hotels, I'd cancel Pawn Stars and every other "reality" show that is still on. Otherwise, I only watch the shows I choose from Netflix of Amazon or iTunes.

I couldn't tell you about what shows need to be cancelled, but I can tell you what I watch.

NASCAR
Celebrity Apprentice (mostly because Penn Jillete is on)
Mythbusters (haven't seen it on in a while, did it get canceled?)
The Burn
Top Gear

That's about all I've been watching regularly.

Edit: I will watch Pawn Stars, Big Bang Theory and Conan if they are on while I'm channel surfing.

Consider an alternate view of the question...

What television shows should be kept on the air?

Admittedly, the young lady of the group is attractive but that's no where near enough.

So curious, what have you watched lately that has made you scratch your head in wonder as to what the studio was thinking?
There's a few shows out there that seem to just go on forever, and eventually an important cast member leaves or they just run out of ideas, and when it finally doesn't get renewed for a new season, it's become mediocre.

House, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, Lost, all went screwy towards the end in my opinion.

I'd rather see a show bow out gracefully.

All the shows that shouldn't be cancelled, obviously.

I think Hawaii Five-O would have been better if not for Scott Caan. He is so annoying and over the top. Add to that his anti-gun rant several episodes ago (and yes I thought he was annoying before that).

I can't believe Revolution is back on the air. That show is awful.

And yes, ALL reality TV.

I have not had cable for close to 3 decades, and we only had rabbit ears TV up to about 8 years ago. We went to DSL internet and now cable high-speed internet (but still no cable TV), using Netflix, Hulu, whatever else is available. Keeping that in mind...

Most times we don't see the newest shows for awhile. Sometimes it is just like a week until a new show gets re-broadcast someway on the internet.

Recently, my wife picked up as a gift the first 3 seasons of "Duck Dynasty". I shoot, hunt, camp, fish, etc - so it seemed it would be a good, funny gift. I watched the pilot episode, and barely made it through the second episode. WHAT is the appeal of this show??? It is boring, and I guess I just don't "get it". On top of all this, I wouldn't buy a "Duck Commander" duck call after seeing how they make them and run their business!

So, I'm with the camp of "cancel all reality shows".

I think Mythbusters might be on Discovery Science now - at least reruns are.

I watch the following:

Football
NASCAR
Top Gear (US and UK, though UK is light years better)
Raising Hope
Modern Marvels (don't think any new episodes have come on lately)
Pawn Stars (love the cool stuff they get sometimes)
American Pickers (same reason as Pawn Stars)
A few others here and there

I'd say, as much as I giggle at a couple of the shows, you could flush TLC entirely down the crapper and no one would really notice. Well, besides people at the trailer parks.

I caught 5 min of 5-0 once. I don't watch broadcast TV at all anymore.

I did see the first 2 or 3 episodes of that new Sherlock Holmes show on OnDemand. They need to drop that one in the terlet as well.

Wouldn't this be a shorter thread if we could list the shows that shouldn't be flushed????

There's not anything that comes on major network TV that I couldn't live without. In fact, I'd have a hard time naming you five current shows on the big four. All the writers with any talent are doing shows on cable, where they aren't so constrained by the FCC.

Even the Turner channels (TBS/TNT) have some pretty good stuff on them.

Anything with 'reality' in the title or show format.

Prepper's. I am not saying that stockpiling food or ammo is a bad idea, it's just that the people selected to be on that show need psychological evaluations, meds, and in some cases, child social services to visit their homes.

I endorse this post (except "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers" but I don't really consider them as "reality TV shows" since, IMO, they are more about the stuff people bring in or have and less about the actual store or business.

Back in the 1980's they played something called "music videos". It was really cool. Last time I turned on MTV (a few years ago), I was confused as to what the channel was about.

All of the CSI shows. In whatever state they are on now. Miami, Los Vegas, Saudi Arabia.....

Ted Danson and LL Cool J? Seriously? Guess everyone can play a CSI agent these days. Awful show.

Greys Anatomy is another vote for awful TV shows.

The Walking Dead.

There, I said it.

The show has been a disaster since Season 2, episode 1. They should have just left it at one season and it would have went down as the best zombie-themed piece of media ever. They're just embarrassing themselves at this point.

Burn Notice.

Is it still going anymore? It was really good at first. But its just gotten old and stale. And you'd think after that many seasons the woman who plays Fiona could nail down a faded Irish accent.

Falling Skies, AKA The Partridge Family does The-End-of-the-World

This show sucked from episode 1. I root for the aliens, not the good guys. They're pathetic. Shame, too. There was a lot of potental in this series.

Lately it has had more misses than an A Team firefight scene.
