It's a TON of fun! I've repeatedly had people, at an indoor range, come over to see what I'm shooting. They always want to shoot off one round, and I let them. They also ALWAYS walk away with a giant smile on their faces.

I bet that that round attracts a lot of attention at an indoor range. Outdoor, for that matter.

Definitely an attention-getter! 260gr. FMJ MagTech rounds are what I have shot the most. These rounds are issued over-the-counter at an Indoor Range I have a membership to, and they don't allow you to shoot your own ammo, unless you buy it in thier shop.

Nice fireball out the front! The range is only about 50 feet, so accuracy is excellent...for relative distance.

My deer load out of my 10.5" Perf Center 500 is a 275gr Barnes HP at 1750. My single shot H&R 500 (22" barrel) will shoot a 300gr Hornady FTX at 2400fps and a 465gr hard cast arnd 18-1825. Just wish I could find a lever gun that wasn't super expensive. That 454 will ruin a hog's day for sure.

i have been considering a 454 casull for quite awhile now. can someone compare the recoil of the lever gun to that of a 30-30 or a .308 bolt action rifle? i have had a few shoulder surgeries so much more than a .308 remington 700 is about all i can take for an extended period of time. maybe compared to certain 12ga loads?

hmmm....it's been a while since I've shot either a 12ga. or a .30-30, but if I had to pick between the two in terms of recoil for the .454 LeverGun, I'd say that the recoil is closer to a 2 3/4" load of skeet shot. It's a jolt, rather than a push. That being said, you definitely know you touched off a .45 caliber bullet at 2,000+ fps.

If I owned a public range I would allow any ammo except armor piercing and incendiary.
