Lost my best friend
Lost my pup tonight. He was by my side for 11 years and was still so full of life. Took him to the vet last week for a sonogram and found he had inflammation of the liver. Vet was happy with that since he was almost certain a tumor was in there. Prescribed medicine, and unfortunately, I don't think his liver was able to handle it. Happened so fast. He was playing yesterday, then started panting tonight, and as I was getting ready to take him to the emergency vet, he laid over and spat up blood and was gone.
I'm trying not to blame anyone, and coping is going to be extremely difficult. He was with me through every up and down I had in the last 11 years.

Hardest thing I ever had to do was put a pet down or watch them pass on their own after a major illness. All of mine were Golden Retrievers; great dogs, companions, friends, & role models. I learned something from every one of my dogs and no two were alike. Sorry for your loss, you need a new friend.

Coming up on this ourselves with our 12+ year old Cairn. Sorry for your loss. Their time is so short compared to us.

I'm sorry for your loss and I know the pain you are feeling right now. Remember the good times you had together and know that he is in a better place now, waiting to be reunited with you one day.

Sorry for your loss! It's never easy to lose a best friend...hopefully you can focus on the happiness he brought you and take comfort in knowing he was happy and couldn't have had a better life, because you loved him.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Buried him this morning at his favorite place on my parents land. That was incredibly hard.

Sorry for your loss. My avatar shows my buddy Dorie. I had to put her down last December and hope you can find peace through remembering the time you had together.

I know the sorrow you feel losing a loved family member. I hope you can come to peace with this in time. Total devotion is a wonderful thing to experience and very hard to lose. RIP

Sorry to hear the sad news, I know how hard it is. I had a Husky that had cancer at age 11, we nursed him through four surgeries and then experimental drugs. Toward the end I was taking him to the vet once a week. He did make it to almost 15 years old. We just had to put down another Husky, she made it to just over 15 years and it was just as hard. Hopefully won't have to do that again soon as our two Huskies are 6 and 2 right now.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words. He hasn't been off my mind since it happened, and I can't grasp that he's gone. I see him everywhere he would normally be...

Sorry for your loss.
I just lost my great dane yesterday at age 9. The routine is the hardest thing to get over. My best friend was always there for us and offered our family lots of love and security. It has been tough but we are healing
