What do you think of XD handguns?

I have a XDs .45acp with the powder River spring kit installed.

It's an excellent shooter.

I do plan on putting a PRP Match trigger kit on it eventually. I installed Meprolight night sights, and have a cheap Streamlight TLR 3 light on it. I like the light though. It's light weight and plenty bright for the money.

I got the XD45 when it first came out. It's been very reliable.

No complaints at all.

They are a good gun, and run reliable. Pretty good trigger. The grip safety either makes a lot of sense or else gets a why's that needed response, but doesn't
bother me when shooting.

My wife has the XD 9mm, service size.

I compare it to my Glock 17 g4. I like the Glock better, and prefer the Glock trigger. I prefer a gradual build up of pressure on a trigger. The way the Glock trigger does it helps me with a surprise break. I also think the Glock slide feels a little less top heavy in the rolling of the recoil. Maybe the 19 is the better comparison to the XD9 based on barrel length, but the 17 is the same size based on grip length. I prefer the squareness of the Glock slide for easier racking. The grip safety does sometimes make me readjust when racking an empty gun, kinda quirky then, but not a problem for reloads while shooting.

But those are really small comparisons and a matter of preference, perhaps more based on what I'm used to.

If no Glocks, I'd consider an XD as my gun.

The biggest drawback is IDPA puts the Glock in the easier division than the XD, so a shooter will be less likely to make each title grade with the XD. That's dumb, but how they do it because the XD is considered single action and the Glock is considered double action.

I really like mine (XDm 3.8 compact in .45)

9+1 with the flush mag and 13 rounders with a grip sleeve for the reload

I had a xdm 9mm that I bought new. Good shootin' iron but I hated the sights. I don't like 6'oclock hold. I sold it and bought a Kimber Raptor II. Love it. I would like to try the xds in 45acp

Part of me wants to trade a CZ SP-01 for an XDM in 9.
I just can't bring myself to do it.

The only thing I hate about my XDS is the grip safety.

The trigger could be a little smoother, but nothing beats having a .45 ACP in your pocket.

I kind of prefer the grip safety, but sometime I need to readjust my hand on the grip to operate the slide. I think with the PRP trigger it will be just about perfect for me!

I like the mag release over the one on the glock. Fits in the hand better for me. Been a long time since I shot one though. Looking for a 9mm maybe, depending on if I can find any HK 9mm I like and feel like is a good deal.

I liked the XD series enough to own 7 of them in 9mm and 45acp, sub-compact, service and tactical, but there was something always missing. The XDM and XDS is where it's at IMO. Enough changes in the trigger, ergos and texture to make it almost perfect. Now if they could just make the XDM line not use a worthless roll pin to retain the striker like the XDS, It would be perfect. I hope they go in that direction.

I had an XD45 Tactical for a while. It is a reliable, strong and accurate gun design but I ultimately decided that I was so used to my G21 and USPf 45 that I sold it for what I got it for - I got a real good deal on it - and kept the other two. I do like the beefy locking block and other features but it just felt to different than my USP and G21 for me to want to invest the time in getting used to the feel.

I had heard some say the XD was 6 o'clock hold, but my wife's XD9 is center hold. We've even benched 2.5" groups dead on with it at 25 yards.

I have an XD 5" setup for competition, with Canyon Creek trigger job. I actually like it better than my G34/G35, but I perform better with the GLOCKs.

Some say the high bore axis doesn't matter, but it matters to me. My wife, on the other hand shoots her best with the XD (when talking production division guns). So, many factors involved.

I had an XD .45 Compact. It fed everything, including LSWCHPs.

The reason I choose the XDS over the M&P Shield is because of the grip safety. While my main carry is a G30 (no grip safety), I was looking for something that I could use for alternate carry, like a Smart Carry or pocket. So because of the type and location of carry, the grip safety gives me a little more piece of mind.

I will also add, the XDs feels and functions (especially the trigger) more like my G30 than my XD .45 Compact. So it makes a perfect alternative for occasions where the G30 is too big, IMO.

I think it a great gun. Very reliable, has a good natural pointability thanks to the 1911 grip angle. Breaks down easily, has the grip safety. Last but not least has great Customer service. Plus they listen to what there customers want in future pistols. What's not to like.

The ones I've shot have been accurate and reliable but a couple times while operating one I couldn't open the slide and realized I had to engage the grip safety first. It was a deal breaker for me.

LIke a fool I sold my XD40sc to a friend and will contine to try and buy it back. I don't miss my Ruger SR9, SR9c, or LC9 but really regret getting rid of my XD.
