The cursor on my laptop has locked up and I can't use my pc. Does anyone have any ideas that don't invole my G22.

I presume "cursor locked up" meaning your touchpad is not working?

Some laptops have touchpad on/off button; make sure it's not turned off.
Do the touchpad buttons work? Does a menu pop up when you right-click?

If what Citizen posted is correct, you might need to reinstall the driver for the touchpad.

right click and nothing happens

It's unlikely that the touchpad drivers would stop working all of a sudden. More likely the touchpad was simply turned off, either by a hardware switch or by a software option.

Learn to navigate Windows without a mouse (cursor keys, space, tab, enter, ctrl-esc, alt-tab...). Or plug in a USB mouse. Then check the touchpad software (there is probably an icon for it in the tray). I bet there is a small tick mark that enables/disables the touchpad.

I have a Satellite C655-S5540

There isn't any switch on this one to disable the touchpad, I've actually never seen a switch to disable the touchpad on any laptop before..

I've seen switches to turn the WiFi adapter on & off, but never the pad.. lol

I doubt it's the driver either, but it won't hurt to try. Maybe you'll get lucky?

To navigate & open the browser without the mouse, push the button next to Function (Fn) and Alt - The one with the Windows logo.

That will pull up the start menu. Then use the arrow keys to get to your browser, then push Enter to open it.

However I agree with CoD - I also use a wireless USB mouse when I'm using the laptop at my desk. The only time I use the pad is when I'm "portable" I guess you would say.

If you have 15 bucks laying around, head to best buy or walmart and buy one to use until you get the pad fixed, it's better than nothing, and in my opinion, better than the touchpad altogether.. lol

I've had a couple of HPs/Compaqs with such a switch. Sometimes it's convenient to disable the pad when you are using an external mouse.

Ah.. I actually CAN think of a time when that would be handy to have!

Sometimes when I'm writing, my palm will brush the touchpad, causing the window to lose focus, or for the cursor to jump to a different place, resulting in me typing in the wrong spot.

LOL!! That gets so annoying, especially when I have a few thousand words to get done!

Speaking of laptop mice, Microsoft Wireless Mouse 3500 is my absolute favorite. Small enough to carry around yet fits in my (not so small) hand. The receiver barely sticks out of the USB port. The battery lasts forever. The motion in smooth on pretty much any surface. Waking up and going to sleep are unnoticeable for the user.

if its an hp, check to see if there is a little dot at the top corner of the pad. either double or triple tap it. if that doesnt work you most likely need to reinstall the drivers. just navigate with the keyboard to uninstall them and restart. then reinstall the latest drivers when it reboots.

Make sure your battery weak. Install a new one and press the reset button on the bottom
