Having had maybe more than my fair share of injuries and made it back from all so far, I have right about no tolerance for cops who are fat, out of shape loads simply because they are too lazy or indifferent to exercise and eat better. It really doesn't take much to be in minimum acceptable condition, but it's way too much to ask of some. There is almost always a way to work around an injury. If you can't run, ride a bike or swim. Just do something, and quit eating at McDonald's and 7-11.

Those who will not work out have nothing those who cannot work out.

I agree. A female I work with (who thankfully rides a desk now) has horrible legit foot problem that have needed surgery in the past. But every day for lunch she's munching on Wendy's, McDonald's, or some deep fried something or other. She's gone from being chubby 10 years ago to being a tank now. I don't get it.

i really don't like watching COPS. When I first got married my wife wanted to watch it all the time. I told her point blank, when I come home and take off the uniform, I really, really don't want to think about it until I put it back on.

To this day, having long been out of uniform, I still flip the channel.

Set goals. Realistic goals. Work toward those goals.

Get a workout buddy, or three. It's easier with friends.

Good advice.

I did the same, but after life kicked me in the pants. Divorce, diabetes etc..I realized I had to start living again.

It's about MOVEMENT. We sit on our hides 99.99% of the day. DO anything, but do it everyday. Walk, jog, hike bike, anything, but just do it for 30 minutes, 4-5 times a week. Everyone can do that.

Compare that to the exercise we did as youngsters, and 3-60 min a day is nothing.

Soon your day wont feel right without your walk/jog. That and eating healthy and light during work hours.

Im down from 260 (6'4") to 210 in 18 months.

Ha, me too. Ok, I'm 43.

Wife lost 40lbs just walking years before we got married. I stopped doing heavy weights when my back started hurting.

Now it is mostly core building and stretching. Usually it's a Bob Harper or Jillian Michaels video 2X during the week and then a trip to 24hr fitness on the weekend.

Diet isn't great but I stay away from all the creamy and fatty stuff since I don't like it anyway. I am a fan of a good burger, a Dr. Pepper, and some BBQ.

That is good. If I had a dollar for everyone I know who started P90X but didn't finish, I'd have a trip to Vegas saved up.

Yeah, I've heard that too, hence my buddy giving it to me with a "keep it as long as you want". Actually my bronchitis is about cleared up so I'm going to start it tomorrow night. I've got two teenage boys that have been pushing me so that will help. One does a lot of Parkour so he's in really good shape. I found that to be a great workout too without the boredom of a regular run on the street, but a lot of injury risk for an old man.

The problem with me working out a lot is I bulk up fast so my tight shirts get tighter and sometimes look way too Hollywood... even for me.
