More info on the Acapulco assaults.

It appears that the victims thought it would be a good idea to buy drugs from their future assailants.

So the moral of the story is don't buy drugs... or don't go to Mexico if you want to buy drugs?

Play with fire, that's what you get. Deal with the criminals and you invite them into your life, good or bad and in this case, pretty bad.

It wouldn't have happened if people cut off tourism to that failed country.

Don't go to Mexico AND don't buy drugs and you reduce your chances of being a victim by about 99%.

I don't have anything to do with drugs, but I don't think buying drugs invites what happened to them.

If they even actually did buy drugs.

And what was it, some pot for personal use?

However, if they were buying bricks or bails or whatever of cocaine to smuggle back to Spain, then my sympathies for them start to go down, a little.

No one is saying they deserved to get gangraped. What we are all saying is that if you invite criminals into your life, you get unintended consequences. Had they not bought drugs from them a few days before, more than likely it would not have happened. Also, I highly doubt it's pot for personal use. Since everyone wants to legalize marijuana, the news would be quick to point out that "it's just pot" they bought.

Mexico may now be the biggest s**t hole on the planet. I wouldn't go anywhere in that country for any reason.

You know, that's kind of "duh" obvious to most people.

Your even realize it's true, right? When is the last time your pharmacist invaded your home after you got a legal prescription filled. It seems more than obvious here - in fact, the whole story is about people becoming victims after dealing with a criminal gang to buy drugs.

Are you saying if they were sold at the local liquor store or pharmacy, the store owners and employees would have committed this crime?

ILLEGAL drugs are sold in a criminal black market where violent crime is a necessary part of doing business. That means, when you buy drugs, you are dealing, directly or indirectly, with violent criminals. That is what put these people in danger and resulted in the crime.

Guess the tourists can't trust the Mexican drug dealers anymore.

Strange that they have the bad guys under surveillance but haven't made the arrest yet...... Must be some reason ...

I can't say about recreationally, but I do know, for a fact, no matter how cheap and legal (if making them legal would even make them cheaper) they become addicts will use to the exclusion of doing anything productive and will take themselves down to the point that, even if it only costs $10 for a days supply, they won't have that $10. At that point they resort to crime to feed the habit. So I don't see much of a chance that legalizing will stop that kind of crime, and usually it is non-users that are the victims (because they have money and stuff to steal) So anything that keeps the crime between druggies, as in this case apparently, doesn't hurt my feelings.

Just about anywhere in the world, if one wishes to buy drugs, one has to go to a bad and dangerous part of town. Because that is where the criminals and pushers live.
