Experience converting a Gen 4 .40 to 9mm?

Greetings. I'm considering ditching my PPQ 9mm as I could use the $$$.

However, I dont want to be without a full size 9.

I've converted an older Gen 3 27 with much success, but I also have a Gen 4 22 I'm considering doing the same thing with. I'm more reluctant to do this based on the ejection issues the 9's are having though.

Specific to Gen 4's, has anyone seen this done? What was the outcome?

I understand some say:

  • Conversions are fine.
  • Fine for range only.
  • Fine for everything.
But really what I'm looking for is experience, specific to Gen 4's.

Thanks!

I got a black anodized, blind marked LWD 9mm barrel for my gen 4 G27. Only add on was some 9mm mags.

Of course I use cheap 9mm ammo with the conversion, and it is NOT as reliable as the .40, occasionally giving me a FTE or stovepipe and weak ejection.

Good HD ammo would probably function more reliably in the 9mm barrel.

I've got a gen4 g23 in which I use a LWD 40-9 bbl in. Have used tulamma, wwbox, pmc, and other target ammo w no problems. Tested it w a few hundred rounds of various wt hd ammo as well. I have not had a malfunction with this particular setup. Hope this helps.

The only difference between the video below and the Gen4s is the spring. It should help.
