Actually, the reason you say grace before you eat is to remove the curse so you won't get food poisoning. I guess the same would work with hookers.

Revival? More like steady growth for a long time. In the U.S., Gallup says that "none" has grown pretty steadily as a religious preference from 1-2% in the 40's and 50's to about 14% in 2012. No sign that will change. In Europe the numbers are much higher, with the number of nonreligious a majority in many countries and at least a quarter or better in most. As I recall, "none" is still thge largest single religious preference in the world.

Some don't see a clear distinction between atheism and agnosticism, some do. Some people disagree a lot about that.

To me it's all just words and labels. I have no belief whatsoever. I don't know what that makes me. I do not think it is possible at the moment to prove or disprove a God. What I know is that there is no evidence as of yet supporting the existence of a God.

What we know is that religions are man made and their holy books works of fiction. We know enough about their history, the history of the cultures that created them, the borrowed and twisted nature of these stories, and that the claims about man's and the Earth's origins within them are false. There is simply no reason to consider these pieces of literature as anything more than a semi accurate historical account of ancient cultures with fictional tales of magic and wizardry (as was common in man's infancy) sprinkled throughout.

I oppose the poisonous influence that religion has on modern society and hope to see it wither and die.

If that makes me an Atheist, Agnostic, Devil Worshiper, Whatever... I don't really care. I have no need to identify with any particular group.

As I recall, most here were pretty clear on what the distinction and source of disagreement were.

Yep. And while we mostly agree on that, it's amazing how little tolerance some have for the opinions of others.

As an agnostic I claim the 19.6 'unaffiliated' (don't really know) and as an atheist I claim the 13.9 'nothing in particular' (don't really care).

Many people don't call themselves agnostics or atheists. They haven't been exposed to hundreds of pages of debate on the definition of those words so they just don't think about precisely what to label themselves. They don't think about gods either.

So when you ask someone their religion who never really thought about it you get an "

" response from them. Those people are agnostic at best and atheist at even better.

Then there are all of those people that couldn't give two squirts about god or church or religion but will always answer whatever religion they were raised as when asked for a survey just like I will always be a White Sox, Bears and Bulls guy (guess which city I was raised in by pure chance during my impressionable GAFing about sports years?) even though I couldn't care less about sports. Those people are agnostic and atheist too.

Basically my point is that your graph is stupid and pointless.

It's not my graph. It's from the US census. Wouldn't you at least like to know what the questions were before imagining what all the responses really mean? It seems like you are imagining things in such a way as to give yourself comfort, and that supports your own beliefs.

Does it make you uncomfortable when other people have reasonably thought about something and come to a different conclusion than you have?
