Guy wants to trade me this "chinese ak-47 parts kit"

The muzzle break.. kinda 74 lookin', no? any easy way to tell if it's 5.54 and not 7.62? He doesn't seem to know uch about it.. said he has had it laying around for 20 years.


Think you could identify it, and make a fair call on value?

He claims the same set is selling for $600 on gun broker currently. Am I nuts to trade a well used mossberg 590a1 for this pile of parts?

Wanted to do a real build after my saiga conversion.


I'd need to buy a receiver, gas tube, and furniture.. anything else appear to be missing from the kit?

Got my hopes up! The guy is waiting to hear back on the deal.. and i'm scrambling to figure out what its worth and if it's a good first build.

Get an up close picture of the left side of the front trunion, get a picture of the front sight block without the muzzle device on it, and get a better/up close picture of the gas block.

The receiver's on the chinese guns are different then all others. It might not be a easy build but can be done.
Are all parts matching? The bolt looks black. If it's Chinese it should be in the white.
That said it's a good trade for you.

Ooh, thanks, that's the kinda info I'm lookin' for.

About the bolt.. white? or do you mean like a matching color with the carrier?

Not sure what trade you're giving in return, but that is definitely a Chinese kit. However, it's missing a few critical parts. Notably missing from the pictures are:
- Front trunnion (extremely hard to find and expensive > $150)
- Single rivet trigger guard (hard to find > $100)
- Rear trunnion (hard to find > $50)
- Furniture ($100)

The barrel assembly picture appears to be a Polytech barrel assembly (front sight block has open ears design), single pin gas block.

Unless you are planning to build this on a milled receiver (CNC Warrior sells them), it's gonna take a while to find a matching front trunnion.

The sum of parts pictured is worth $250 - $300 in 2013 dollars.
