One option is RealPlayer Downloader.

I recommend that you stay away from Cnet (as far as downloading anything), they like to install toolbars and other crap even when you un-check them. Download from majorgeeks or other similar sites.

There are numerous extensions that do this for Chrome and Firefox...

+1. The add-on I use for Firefox is "Easy Youtube Video Downloader." Lets you download the video in the format (.flv or .mp4) and the quality you choose.

Why not just use Keepvid.com? Works great and no need for a browser plug-in.

The DownloadHelper plug-in for Firefox works well.

There is also IE DownloadHelper plug-in for IE. Not as good as the Fireafox DownLoad Helper.

I'm not sure what's proper to discuss here on this forum and what isn't. But plainly stated: downloading videos off YouTube that aren't specifically set up for that is against their ToS, and illegal. Videos that are set up for that will have a little "download" link somewhere next to them.

The other exception to that rule is if you already own the video.

So, basically, if you're going to do it, have at it. But cease and desist the discussions about it here unless you want to get Eric, et al, in trouble for it.
