Which of you open carry activists pulled this?
"Man banned from Charlottesville Kroger after entering with loaded AR-15"
Scaring the crap out of a bunch of college kids is always a good way to get your message across.

I am sure that did wonders to help convert many of the people who were there into gun rights advocates.

Sometimes a poor substitute for brains, which he lacks.
Right now, OCing an AR or AK is throwing gasoline on a fire we are trying to get under control.

I agree with Bren. a 22y/o man walking into a grocery store with an AR following all the fear mongering by the current administration is dumb.
Actions like this are like, 1 step forwards 2 steps back for us.
C'mon.. if you're going to OC stick a revolver on your hip and go to starbucks.
But as for OC- I'm not against it, its just not my thing.

Where does one draw the line? Is OC faster than concealed carry? If so, what about carrying the gun in the hand to faster protect oneself? Even faster,What about walking around with both hands on the gun at low ready until you get to the toilet paper on aisle 2?
At what point does it go from rights to common sense?

It would have beenbetter if he would have slung it and done his shopping. Nope, this dumbass went in the store, went out to his car, got the firearm, returned in store for a moment, then left he store, again. Very suspicious behavior. I, too, would have found reason for alarm.

Or, he could use what we mortals who don't open carry the very type of rifle that is being displayed nationally as a "baby killer" into a grocery store:
Common sense.
This clown is just like the folks in CA who proudly OC'd guns in an attempt to "normalize" their behavior (thus equating it to the gay rights movement*). They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. It's no longer legal to open carry ANY handgun, loaded or not, in CA. And that is a DIRECT result of the OC community's actions.
As Russ always says: When, and where, appropriate.
*When gun owners get a plurality of media support, plus fans in the political world, along with TV shows and movies that feature open carriers in a positive manner - then you can equate gun rights to gay rights. Until then, simply acknowledge it's an uphill battle that can NOT be won by shoving slung AR-15's in people's faces, especially after all that has happened with that particular platform this past year.

Just called Kroger Corporate HQ. Told me a store manager can ban someone from a store. Asked if the store gets a new manager... Was told if the new manager wanted to let him back in then then he could get back in.
This is BS. Kroger doesn't allow dogs other than seeing eye dogs. If you walk into their store with a pit bull will they ban you from the store or just tell you the dog can't be in the store?
If I was the guy I would complain to HQ. The manager could just be an anti-gun liberal and is abusing his power. This guy according to the story did nothing illegal and did not threaten anyone, or the police would have arrested him.

You think that being allowed to openly carry an unloaded weapon is anything to brag about? You might as well be carrying a rock.

Open carrying a rifle in a store is a major d-bag move. Attention whoring at its worst.

People who think that open carry of rifles is terrible should come to Israel to see how it is a complete and absolute non-event.

An apt analogy when Canadians start lobbing mortars into Detroit or sending suicide bombers into Rochester.
Comparing anywhere in the US to life in Israel is a pretty far stretch. We've worked pretty hard so that we're NOT living life like Israel.

Timing very bad to do something like this right now. He's lucky someone with a concealed weapon didn't draw on him in store.

It's VA, people who carry are used to open carry. It's a non issue except to chicken little types.

A guy near me open carried an AR into a JCPenny a couple weeks ago. It wasn't loaded and I guess nobody freaked out or called the police. Some girl in line behind him took a few pictures with her phone and those went viral. It was from those pics that the police first heard it even happened.

Kroger did the exact right thing. They're goal is to make money, not to protect your right to open carry an AR-15 in their store.
