Re: Big Bore Snub

I just got this cut down S&W 1937 .45 ACP. I love it. It's my new favorite gun.

Droooooooll.

I had a "no collector's value" Colt 1917 that I picked up for that purpose when I was younger, unfortunately I sold it to fund my business. sigh.....

It reminds me of the most beautiful revolver I ever saw. A S&W 58 that had the same treatment from Magna-Port, including the porting and a round butt 3" bobbed hammer. It was the reason I bought the Colt. I had seen the 58 at 2 guns shops and forced myself not to buy it. I could have afforded it but the need to reload for it was a money and time deal breaker. I saw it at a gun show, walked from the table, changed my mind, and it was gone when I got back, so I bought the Colt to make what I called a "More practical" version. It was my first lesson in "Go ahead and buy it if you want it, it will cost you more in the long run if you don't'

Man that thing is cool looking! I have wanted to do something like that for a long time, might be my next project. Been wanting a case hardened finish just like that with XS snubby sights put on it. Have the hammer bobbed and the trigger slicked up to about 7lbs.

Thanks for your comments. I like this Smith almost as much as its companion Colt 1917 snub.

I have a blued one. It is a great piece and shows off the work of the John Jovino gunsmiths.
