Glock 30S

Mas -

I have a few questions on the new 30S. You have written that you have fired hundreds of rounds through your test sample.
My questions about the 30S pistol:

1. How is the recoil compared to the 30SF/30Gen4? I would imagine it is sharper due to the lighter slide.

2. Do you have concerns with reliability with the lighter slide? I recall that the G37 originally had a narrow slide for G17/22 holster compatibility during development, but the slide width and mass was later increased for greater reliability.

3. When I rented the regular G30 a few years ago, my pinkie finger was severely pinched by the gap between the magazine and the chopped grip. Is there any way to alleviate this?

4. Watching Glock's own video on the new 30S, "Elite Tactical," it seems that this pistol was developed for LAPD's SIS unit. Is this the case?

Thank you!

Answering in order:

1. Recoil is subjective, of course, but I feel a little more impact into the web of the hand and a little more muzzle rise with the 30S than with the 30 or 30SF. Not a huge difference, though, and still comfortable to shoot.

2.Not so far.

3. The pinch of the little finger between mag and frame occurs with all the short butt subcompact autos, and has to be compensated for by moving the finger out of the way during insertion.

4. Sounds that way.

best,
Mas

Glock 30S

Mas -

Thanks for your prompt reply.

But I didn't clearly state #3 above, my pinkie finger getting pinched. This happened when firing the pistol, not during reloading. Do I need to alter my grip or something?

Thank you.

That's not usual, doc, and puzzling.

Were you shooting with a cup and saucer grasp? That could cause the support hand's palm to be pushing up on the magazine, catching the little finger of the firing hand.

Other than that, I guess I'd need to see you holding the gun. Can you send a couple of still pix of you holding that particular gun, one depicting your two-handed firing grasp and the other showing your primary hand grasp? If you shoot right handed, please take the photo from the left, vice-versa if you're a southpaw. Flip video or something would be even better.

best,
Mas

30s

Mas-

I don't own a G30 and neither do my friends.

I'll send you pics if I get a chance to rent one.

I do use a traditional Weaver stance and grip.

Thanks again for all of your quick replies.
