Large Bore Rifle ?
Anybody try "Hornady-Lever-evolution" , 45-70 GOVT 325gr FTX ? How do you like them..?

I have a 45-70. I have not seen the need for the lever-evolution in 45-70.
It will be interesting to see if anyone has taken game with this round.

I'm going to "sight in " my new 3.5-10 x 35 scope tomorrow ! I'll chime back in. Got to love carbines........!

Can't help with the .45-70.
A friend leverlotioned a deer with my Remington .30-30 after her .270 was stolen.
I can't say it was any deader than a Corelokt would have killed it, but the trajectory is a bit flatter. Not that the critter was shot at any great range.
Handloaders hate them because the brass is shorter than standard to get the rubbernose hemi semi demi spitzer within OAL specs.

Got it sighted in and it is one bad to the bone rifle.
I'm gonna have to go pig hunting. The poor pig..! One shot , one kill !  The max cartridge length is 2.55 max+ (red fexible tip). 2.60 max ! Not quite sure of max distance , but 200 yards is no task and about all that I have a clear shot at!

What velocity do you get with that light-weight .45-70 bullet?

I think the Hornady (red tip) 325 grn. , approx. 2055 fps. at 300 yards ! I read it somewhere and if I ain't on I'm close. It's the one with the 22" barrel , 1895 model,Marlin.

I have a couple 45-70 but prefer to shoot handloads vs factory & the 45-70 is a great game getter w/ old fashioned lead bullets.

It must be doing close to 2500-FPS at the muzzle!

I was way off guessing 2500FPS at the muzzle.

I read about that after I loaded 100 in 44 mag. They work just fine in my Ruger and Marlin without the shorter brass/OAL. I am not loading any more of them though, but that has to do with the plastic tip and special rod for the die.
