Sorry, bought it from an online classified. They seem to be rare. I have seen too many with grip stippling and other mods, which is a shame.

Congrats Jeremy!
The prefix AP guns were made in February of 1986, and were imported in March. They were the fifth batch of 1000 Glocks imported.....nice find!

Thanks Butch! That makes the find even better! I have been looking for a good gen 1 for a while and this is a keeper!

You're quite welcome! Also, the small 'LTH' on the barrel hood to the right of the serial number is the date code that shows it to have been made 2-86.
And, now I know where three of those 1000 'AP' guns are....I have two of them, one is the first Glock I bought....got it new in May of 86.

Congrats, Very nice. Someday I hope to have one.
I just missed this one at my LGS by a day or two with SN# AL715US and a price of $499.

Thanks guys!
I paid $490 with 3 magazines. I think that is a pretty good deal. I missed one for $450 earlier this year. It was at a LGS and when I got there it was sold.

They were not the 5th batch of 1000 imported. I believe they started with AF.

Yup, they started with AF, then came AH, AK, AL, and AP in that order......not all Glocks are imported to the US.

Gen1 has become my preferred G17. I love the wrap-around pebble texture on the grip. Nice find!! Gen1's in nice shape are few-and-far between. Most were beat to hell by LE agencies and then traded in. I latched onto two Gen1's in nice shape (one nicer than the other), and they will likely enjoy permanent residence in my safe. These guns, along with Gen2's, will be especially prized until Glock embraces the fact that not everyone wants grips with finger grooves and thumbrests.

I think the gen 1 and2 are very nice. I am going to keep my eyes open for more gen 1's and still need to find a gen 2. Shouldn't be that hard to find a gen 2
