Between outrageous ticket prices, to over-priced snacks/drinks, to bad HVAC, to crappy unfocused pictures, to loud mouth kids/children, to *******s talking on cell phones, I have sworn off theaters.

We do like movies though, so we invested in a nice home theater set-up, and watch "new" movies when they come out on DVD.

I can pause, piss, get drinks, rewind, adjust the volume...all in the comfort of my own home, with only people we invite, if any.

To Chute and 2-8, I realized that only after about my 3rd look at that post. I guess the green IS making me dense. Read my revised post.

I'm sorry Chute, its just that what you said is something that a number of members here would say, word for word in 100% seriousness.

Tear-Ran-Tina fills his pictures with racial stereotypes and racism. That's the reason so many people like his films. I have not seen "Django Unchained" yet, But I don't see how it could be anymore racist than "Inglorious Basterds" which was about a hand picked Army unit of Jewish soldiers with a Jewish leader fighting behind enemy lines in WWII with sole aim of killing German soldiers and collecting their scalps. And they did not necessarily kill in battle. One big scene has a German officer murdered with a baseball bat after a short interrogation.
Perhaps "Django Unchained" fits a more recognizable form of racism, But I don't see how it could top "Inglorious Basterds" a a racist film.

Bigotry may be more applicable but racist is the word people recognize. How about "hate crime"? In war, what do you call it when you go out of your way to kill the enemy like Lt. Aldo Raine and his band of Hebrews did in "Inglorious Basterds"

I want to go see it, but I absolutely hate going to the theater. Usually it's just me being a brat about the shuffling of feet and popcorn bags (I'm probably being unreasonable) -- but other times it's that there are a few of those people who want to chat it up, kick my seat, or light the entire room with their phone's screen throughout the movie.

I'll probably just wait until it's on Netflix.

Why is it racist or bigoted to depict Jews killing Nazis or (former) Slave killing slave owners? If it's racist or bigoted then are not all westerns where Indians are killed or WWII films as well?

Excellent Answer! however, I wonder how a hate crime can be done at the Fascist level, regardless of the facts history presents us.
what about Mao and the Cultural Revolution in 1967-or thereabouts- and the starvation and "re-education" of 80 million Chinese?
Regardless of any of my posturing, Truth can be far more heinous than fiction. Individuals succumb to blood lust, but how does it happen to entire nation?
