Les Miles said that he felt they could not run the ball on Clemson. Who knows what would have happened but Clemson did have several times where they stopped LSU for no gain. I think LSU had 12 of 15 drives end after three plays (two scores, one half-ending play, and 8 three-and-outs). I don't think LSU ever drove the field on them (though they did have one 57-yard TD run).
I am very proud of Clemson for that win. They went toe-to-toe with one of the top 5 physical teams in the country and came out on top.
And Tajh Boyd is the freakin' MAN!!! If he doesn't go pro he can always endorse wheelbarrows. (I'll let the collective see if they can figure out the reference)

I believe a lot of the reason Saban hired Rumph away from Clemson was to try to get Clowney, since Rumph came pretty close to having him come to Clemson. That said as a coach I'll take Marion Hobby over Rumph to be honest.
The coach I would LOVE to have back at Clemson that Alabama got though is Burton Burns (RB coach). He is a fantastic coach.
I'm not $ure why Clowney $elected $outh Carolina over Alabama but I think he had some incentive$$$$$$$$.

Clemson, just like FSU and (usually) Miami are not typical ACC teams and they can play with the best of any other school.
Clemson's win is gigantic, a very big feat to have accomplished. LSU is very used to having their way at most of their bowl games recently (past 10 years). LSU sure ain't a pushover.
FSU's win was not so special, playing Northern Illinois, they may have been 12-1, with 12 straight wins, but they were a MAC conference team and also they had the easiest schedule in college football. FSU didn't choose their Orange Bowl opponent (The orange Bowl committee did). FSU had everything to lose if they were to lose that game and nothing really to gain.
A loss to by FSU to NIU would have been even more dubious than Michigan's loss to Appalachian State.
Congratulations to Clemson, that win was impressive.

It was a good win for FSU and it knocks the "ACC has never won a BCS game" monkey off the conference's back. I thought NIU acquitted themselves pretty well though.
The trick for Clemson now is to build off of the Chic-Fil-A bowl win in recruiting and player development. If they can do that they could be in line for a special year next year.
We shall see.

I still miss those Danny Ford coaching days for Clemson. Nobody wanted to play those Clemson teams (not even FSU or Miami in the early 1980's welcomed Clemson on their schedule because Clemson was indeed scary and good).

Maybe Mushcamp wants a dramatic 2nd half?

Florida has shown to be a great 2nd half team throughout this season. I never realized how the sports announcers frequently mentioned that Gator QB Jeff Driskel isn't a good passer (I sort of always thought he was).

Louisville is giving it to them good. Its clear that the tough SEC conference schedule took its toll on the Gators while Louisville is fresh.

I don't know. I love my Gators, but I have said it before - I think they're over-rated this year. They've been horribly inconsistent.

I thought you were being serious about the tough schedule excuse.

I was. Just not a valid excuse for the Gators.

Sure glad that I decided to get some sleep instead of watching the conclusion of the Sugar Bowl.

Mighty impressive that Clemson and Louisville took down 2 of the SEC powers.
I have a feeling that Notre Dame may do the same.
