My son lives in Chicago. When he moved there he was surprised to learn two things.
1. There are a lot of home invasions in Chicago because people can't own guns there and they are easy targets. These are hushed up by the police and not reported by the media
2. Many of his well to do clients own guns anyway for protection. Yeah that makes them criminals if they get caught but they are willing to take their chances.

Chicago just hit 500 today. Not looking good with a holiday weekend to go to finish off the year. My prediction is they will hit 510 by the time the ball drops.

I heard on the news at noon today some phrase from the news person that they are stolen guns....... So how do the LAWS apply to stolen guns?

Let me see here , gun control . Most of the criminal element does not get much range time so this may be a plus ? Being a law biding citizen , maybe I can out run them but , I would not live in the windy city to begin with !

Having grown up in Illinois and lived in Chicago all us here know how well the gun ban has worked for us-Not.
Only the rich here that can hire armed security believe gun control works because they "feel" it does.
There is nothing that can change anyone's "Feelings". You either like the color blue or you do not.

Cook county hasn't changed in all these years. The city thugs are running it and the ghetto thugs are ruining it. The citizens are just cannon fodder caught in the middle.
Minor consolation is that many ghetto thugs are dying too.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel called the total "an unfortunate and tragic milestone, which not only marks a needless loss of life but serves as a reminder of the damage that illegal guns and conflicts between gangs cause in our neighborhoods."
So the best way to prevent this is obvious: Go after the legal gun owners. Yea, that makes sense!

These really aren't true 'murders'. They are essentially drug and gang promotions (shooter) and demotions (shootee).
There might be 10% legit murders in there. The other 90% are drug/gang related.

philly is no better. and the "police commisioner" (qutes for a reason) has been appointed to be part of the task force on decreasing gun violence.....
give that a minute to sink in.
in 5 years, there will be no one left to kill in philadelphia. the septic tank that it is will finally die off.
