Well 4 weeks now....no Copenhagen
On week 4 now being dip free. Getting a little easier each day. Going to continue to keep dip free and not start back. Not feeling weird anymore. Guessing the withdrawal symptoms are subsiding.
Looks like Im on my way to kicking the can!

Good job.
The only time I dip anymore is when I'm hunting or fishing.

Thanks everyone! It's been a ***** to try and quit, but I'm giving it a solid chance. One of the hardest things I've tried to quit!

I quit smoking 7 months ago, and I believe it is one of my greatest accomplishments. I still think about from time to time, but it is brief and then I move on. It gets much easier as time goes by. Nice job and hang in there!

I quit dipping in 2007. I started again in 2009. It was a conscious choice. I wasn't happy without it and was eating a lot more. After 3 years I'm down 65 lbs. Which is worse for me?

Good for you! It's a dirty and disgusting habit. Don't go back.
Tobacco is one of the strongest addictions around.

congratulations man, I'm one of the very few at my workplace that does not rub snuff, and my plant is set to go tobacco free January 1. Some of the guys have kicked the habit but most have not. I dread to see the tempers that will flair up when they can't dip anytime they want anymore. I also dread to see people get written up if they get caught, even though the company has tried to set up secession classes to help them quite. Keep up the good work, the guys that quit said it was the hardest habit to give up, much harder than smoking. Good job.

A good friend got off of dip tobacco but the experience was not one he'd recommend. A bad fall resulted in shattering one ankle, tibia, and fibula with surgery required to put him back together with a cage and pins to hold everything in place. He had to wait for surgery while the initial swelling went down so they had him heavily sedated with nothing by mouth. After surgery, he had powerful painkillers to take away any cravings. By the time he went home, he no longer used the stuff.

Don't give up now, you've got the worst of it behind you. I started dipping when I was 12 and quit when I was 40. I was dipping two cans of Cope a day when I quit. That was 10 years ago, never had one since. I tried the nicotine gum, patch, you name it. I finally just did it cold turkey. The first week was pure hell. After that it got better each day, I don't even give it a thought. I actually enjoyed the habit but got tired of the wife and my mother always nagging at me plus the price kept going through the roof. It was about .25 cent when I started and I think it was getting close to $5.00 when I quit. Best of luck to ya bud.

Funny thing is after all those years of dipping my dentist was always amazed that she couldn't tell I chewed. She said it was because I always brushed my teeth a couple times a day and would also wash out my mouth with water after most dips.

I don't think about it but I did enjoy it. I tell all me buddy's " If I ever found out I was terminally ill I would probably start again because I actually enjoyed the habit".

I tried a couple of times but that "weird" feeling you mentioned was too much for me on the first day or two. Almost like I was spaced out!! How long does it last?

I'm 62 y/o, quit smoking in '78, cold turkey while stationed in Kunsan, Korea. I had been a casual user of chewing tobacco for many years and quit that in the same fashion about 3 years ago. Trust me - there's nothing to gain from using tobacco except to keep the evil brown weed & medical industries in business. Wouldn't surprise me that in years to come, insurance will not cover any tobacco related issues.
