Guess "Mil Spec" is a moot point now..
I guess buying something without the prancing ponies does not really matter right about now. No?

Yep. Let's purchase any POS just because the world is coming to an end as we know it. No not really, quality is always a factor.

Today I saw a stripped lower for $90. It had one of the trigger guard ears broken off
How's that for non mil spec?

Even if you were to buy a Prancing Pony, it still doesn't mean that you're getting "mil-spec".

What prancing pony other than Colt is out there? A current Colt is mil-spec and a better deal (non panic buy priced) than most of these cheap AR's that I see being justified here.

That is very correct. Colt uses plenty of commercial parts and some dumb unique ones.

You do know that Colt is labeling their rifles "M4" now, don't you? LE6920 is long gone.
Still, dosen't mean anything.
Just to properly answer the OP's question, no "Mil Spec" doesn't mean anything to most panic buyers right at this very moment. It does to other folks, but those folks pretty much already have their ARs.

Same crap as back in 94 ban. Hell Armalites and Bushmasters were the top of the pile.
People werent paying the prices collectors wanted for colts. Especially with their off center pins some had.

That is actually correct. For those that need range or safe queens it does not matter. For those of us that have these guns to possibly save our lives mil-spec or better matters.
Bushmaster is a low end company. Nothing wrong with owning one but lets not pretend they are anything other than what they are.

Wrongo Leper
Bushmaster was top of the heap back in the good ole' days and they worked fine. Colt wasn't even in the civilian market at the time.

Not only that... Bushmaster, DPMS and Remington are all the same company now--Freedom Group.
Remington was recently awarded a contract for M4 rifles from the Army and provided they can overcome the appeal filed by Colt Defense they will be supplying MILSPEC rifles to our troops...

When was that? When where these good ole' days? I bought a Colt back in the 80's and it wasn't exactly a rare gun. Bushmaster guns work but they are not of the same quality. I have nothing against cheap gun and own a few myself but the gun that stays with me when I'm on duty is NOT a low end gun like Bushmaster. If pretending they are as good as a Colt makes people feel better about owning a cheap gun then that is a big deal but at the same time they shouldn't present what they think as a fact when it is not.

Only an idiot thinks that Colt is the only milspec gun. Sarcasm vs. facts is what you rely on?

My point is that around here there is absolutely no AR's available regardless of brand.
