Has anyone really fixed Gen4 brass to the head yet?
I have been looking and all I have found are "kinda" work fixes.
G.T. has proven to be the best place I have found for (mostly) reliable info. so it is only fitting to ask here.
What I have are two Gen4 17s (pfcxxx and tgbxxx) that love to hit me and my wife in the head with brass. If it were an occasional tap every now and then I wouldn't be too put out about it but, my wife is just starting to shoot (I still have my first gun from 1975) and when a hot piece of brass glues itself to her, that makes a bad day...
She has fired my Kimber, Ruger, Colt, Smith, you name it but she loves the Glock!! She likes my PPQ but hates the 40 cal round. So I MUST get these things fixed. Glock has done NOTHING for us (same spring/extractor/ejector).
what I have done:
1. Stoned / polished extractor - helped but after 20 rounds started getting pummeled again.
2. Put 40 cal extractor in after "fitting" - helped, stoned and polished same - no difference.
3. made 4 loads using different powder/weight combos - real hot loads work 80% of the time but she cant shoot 50 without feeling it (no fun). Soft loads work as wwb. 50-60%
4. Stand in one place looking stupid. That for some reason got many onlookers but fixed nothing.
Any new fixes will be appreciated!!

Apex extractors (gen3 & gen4 versions) have fixed most.
Glock extractors don't have a good record, even the newest.
Do you have the 30274 ejector?
Do you have the latest recoil spring assembly?
Call Glock with your serial numbers to see if your guns need
updates.
White Sound HRED extractor plunger also can help.

If you like the hammerless style of the Glock, the Springfield Armory XD and XDm guns are similar in function. I shoot 1911s for the most part so I don't keep up on who is making what.
I have an XD9 and it is a great gun! I suggest you try to find a place that rents guns and give one a try.
I have been reading this forum for about 2 years and I don't think anyone has come up with a fix for 'all' guns. Some guns always work, some guns can be fixed, some guns can be improved but not fixed and others, not so much.
You showed a couple of serial number prefixes but I didn't look up the manufacturing dates. In theory, Gen 3 guns after about 2008 (this is an 'iffy' date - nobody knows the real date when all the changes came about) and Gen 4 guns have the problems. A gun build prior to 2007 should be good to go.
That's another option: Look around for a used gun made before 2007.
And you're right! Glocks shoot better with heavy loads. People may not like shooting them but the gun functions better. For 9mm, you want to look for 124 gr NATO loads. The lighter 115 gr bullet doesn't work well.

I have sent in the tbg and it came back with the same numbered parts. I have two ejector numbers and have swapped parts for more than three months but haven't found the right combo yet..
I love the 124gr. so thats what I shoot at the range but as needed to test I have tried 5 commercial loads but, I would rather not buy 200-250 rounds a week for my wife to shoot, I have a gen1 that will shoot ANYTHING I feed it... I will try the HRED (brownells??) and keep dreaming of a reliable gen4...

I do have SEVERAL different toys to chose from but as I stated, my wife for some reason wants this one. She hates my gen1 17 (brick) likes my PPQ (hates 40 cal.) If it were something for ME I would load hot and shoot all day but that isn't an option at this point. Any time a customer calls and says "I have two guns that don't work" and c.s. says I am up to date, something is wrong... I sent in the one we just got and they didn't fix anything..

I had a local armor do all the updates on my 17 and haven't been hit in the face in about 5000 rounds. None of my other Gen 4s have given me problems from 1st shot on.

Nothing against Glocks, but you mention twice that hour wife likes the PPQ. Why not get her one in 9mm?

I have 2 that eject perfectly, as well as any semi-auto I've ever shot. Both Gen4's, a G17 and a G19.
One has the Apex extractor and spring. Don't forget to order a non-LCI spring loaded bearing from Glockparts.com.
The other has the latest non-dipped Glock extractor from Glockparts.com. Call and ask for it specifically. It also has a White Sound Defense 20% extra power extractor depressor plunger spring and the equivalent of a non-LCI spring loaded bearing.
Both setups work for me, and have for others. In my case the Glock non-dipped extractor is possibly a bit better than the Apex, as it will eject without the magazine in place, which the Apex setup will not. That may be due to the guns: I have not tried switching parts around. And I would rather bet on the Apex over the long haul, as it is machined from solid tool steel, whereas all Glock extractors are MIM parts. The Glock non-dipped extractor is a lot less expensive, though.

It can never be fixed. I heard it from a guy at the gun shop who was wearing black BDUs and a tactical fanny pack, so he must know. Judging from the responses above, including changing the wrong parts, etc., he's probably right.
You should quit shooting Glocks.

Hat and eye protection at the range, ear protection too keeps the occasional brass from flying into the ear canal.
Camo BDU's make you look official when you scream from hot brass going down the front of your shirt. Tattoos make you look tougher when you do a proper non-limp wrist grip. high and tight haircut keeps others from snickering at you.
Tula, Bear or wolf-- who cares where that lands!

After around 200 rds through my Gen 4 G17, stock, I've had no BTF issues. It has the new ejector and the dipped extractor.

I fixed my wifes G19 Gen 4 with White Sound HERD, and an extractor I got at a local gunshop. (non-LCI) When I bought the pistol it had all the other updated internals. I checked that before I bought.

I never understood that. If someone hates Glocks they should p#ss off and go to the Beretta forum or something. I get that people are frustrated with this issue (I haven't seen it on my Glock) but some seem to come on here just to bash Glock.
