M&P 340 Lock Part Number
A long time ago I disabled the lock on my 340. Recently I removed the parts in lieu of "the plug". But a recent local court case has me rethinking this and I would like to be able to put it back to stock. I can't find the correct part number in brownells. I just the need the part shown which I believe is the "flag". I'll attach a few pics.
Thanks,
MStarmer

Was thinking about doing the plug.
Can you provide details on the case you are referencing?

Actually re-reading my first post I didn't make sense. Actually when I first purchased I modified the original parts by removing the protrusion that engages the hammer thus retaining the stock parts but disabling the lock. Recently I installed "the plug" but now am thinking of returning it to stock.
A tragic off duty accident at a local agency;

The one part I heard on the news was "This revolver could have been rendered inoperable with the simple twist of a key," she said.

Ok well I can appreciate what you are saying but that doesn't mean much to me personally. Saying that "if" a safety is engaged something would be different... Where does that leave the 3000,000,000,000,000,000 without safeties?
A loaded gun left out with young children is a loaded gun left out with children.. Bad juju on every imaginable level.
It only would be an issue to you if you plan on engaging the revolver lock.. If so I guess go for it.. You gotta do what makes you comfortable.
Beyond that, might I mask, was "the plug" install easy to do?

The internal lock should not be relied upon as a crutch for being irresponsible with a firearm. Anyone that leaves a firearm unsecured around small children is an ***** hat to include that officer and has no business with a firearm.
This "theplug" looks very nice. I'll have to pick one up for my 340. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

You can get the plug from a guy on the S&W forums. I agree on all counts, I don't like it (the lock), don't use it and am pretty sure I could articulate why. But while in my current situation I think it's best to return it to stock.
Thanks.

Found it on the S&W forum. The "Lock Arm" is P/N 293730000 (view 97) on a J-Frame. It lists it as a factory installed only part. But as listed in the posts they don't seem to have a problem selling it. $10.89 to the door. More for shipping than the part but I can put my gun back to stock.
